Also, talk to your doctor abour voltaren gel. It is an ointment you can apply to your swollen/painful joints and it actually relieves some of the pain!

Tried Voltaren gel when I had planters faciitis last year. It doesn't seem to work on me.
I've got 3 full tubes of it in a cabinet and another 2/3 full.

Pain's down some today. Still hurts though. I'll try the epsom salts.

I'd used Voltaren Gel a couple of years ago and I didn't think it'd done anything, but kept it around in my bedside table. Tried it a couple of months ago and have been using it ever since -- now it works!

So my message is -- try it again, it might help today.

I was the same way with the voltaren jel but gave it a shot one day and it relieved the pain. Also, being a different part of the body, might work?? Another thing I would suggest is get a heating pad and sit with joints under it. I actually have a heating blanket for the worst times when it all over body pain. Hugs and hope you can find relief.

Is it possible for someone to suddenly develop RA with their lupus?

Of course it's possible!!! I can't think of anything I know about where one disease could/would prohibit you from getting another disease. And quite a few people get the combination.

However, RA is treated by the same rheumy as treats Lupus (a plus!), and can be somewhat identified by a simple antibody test. As I understand it, treatments overlap -- which is a heck of a lot better than 2 diseases where treatment conflicts.

If you believe this is a significant new symptom, I'd schedule a rhemy visit post hast.
Hope you feel better soon,

Sometimes when my hands really hurt, I heat up moist towels in the microwave and wrap my hands up in the warmed up towels. It feels pretty darned good.
