First of all I'm glad I found you all.
Secondly I don't know what is going on with  me yet, I am in the midst of medical test Hades and just want some answers.
My name is Karen.  I'm 53.
My grandfather died of liver disease related to his black lung disease, believe it or not.
My father died of liver disease ( the time they discovered it he was so far gone they didn't know the cause).
My son has NASH.
Fast forward to me.  I am very liver disease concious, probably too much so.
I went in with bone pain and muscle pain to my doctor who ran a series of blood tests.
Through the years I've had itching (unexplained) that my docs said was likely due to my morphea (rare skin disorder, of the sclero family).  It was face predominent.  I've had myriad liver tests, even a scan many years ago.
Well this new doc ran some tests and found my ANA is 1:640 which is darned high.  My bone pain is starting to decrease as I wait the month I have to wait to get into the rheumatologist.  However, my liver is enlarged.  I can feel it.  The tip extends past my ribcage.  I am on my way into the doc just now.
This scares me.  It scares me very  much.  I have been taking motrin for months for the pain so that I can sleep (motrin pm), I am now off all pain meds, Im hoping the liver issue is due to that.
I don't know even what to ask here.  Watching my father was dreadful.  It broke my heart to see him suffer so.
I hate that my liver can be felt when I slouch or lie on my left side.  I'm going to hope it isn't liver disease and hope hard.
I wish you all pain free, bad news free days.  Like I said, I think I needed to vent.  Thanks!

Welcome to the forum. I am sorry to hear that you are sick but I guess that is what bring us all here. I guess the only real advice I can give with all of this is make sure you find a good Rhuemy. That is the number one thing at least for me. Someone who you can trust and who actually listens to you and what you have to say about how you are feeling.

Good luck with your appt.

Welcome!! I hope your appointment went well. Try not to worry so much. I'm sure your doctor will be right on top of everything with your family history.

Let us know how things are going.

Take care,
Mary Ann

I am new to Lupus as well. Pardon me for asking this question but you say you can feel your liver, is it by slouching? I have had some vague issues with this and last week it was so bad I stayed in bed most of the day. I have never thought it was much of anything to tell the doctor about until recently.
