My daughter in law has just been diagnosed with Interstitial Cystitis. She is really in a lot of pain and I don't know what to do to help her.

Is there a forum somewhere like this one that she can go to for the support and help that she needs. She is in so much pain and so depressed and needs to talk to someone who is going through what she is going through.

Thanks,
Mary Ann

I have IC and after I was diagnosed, I remember going to www.ic-network.com/support/ I am sorry to hear she has this, I know it can be so painful! Hopefully she will be able to manage it with diet and medication or maybe just diet, it took me awhile, but I was eventually able to learn foods/drinks that aggravated the IC. I wish her the best!

Thanks Joy. I'll try over at the kidney forum and see what they have to say.

Momto3 I'm sorry you have IC too. I will send her a link to that website and see how it goes. I feel so sorry for her.

Thanks again,
Mary Ann

Hi Nanabee..I was diagnosed back in 08 and tried the Elmiron, but really it was so much of what I was eating and drinking, especially my favorite, iced tea:( Now, I take AZO that most of us use for UTI's and it gets rid of the burning asap. In the beginning it was horribly miserable, so I know how she feels! I didn't know what it was for the longest time and kept going to the doctor over and over. Finally a trip to a urologist diagnosed it. It's a great website and many helpful ladies:)

Hi Mary Ann. It is so nice to hear of a family of an ICer being involved and supportive because so many of us are not as fortunate as your daughter in law. Go to /www.ic-network.com/, specifically their support forum www.ic-network.com/forum/forum.php. I am 20 years old, and I was finally diagnosed at 12 after having it for ages. My mother found this website and proposed the possibility of me having IC to my doctor because of the ICN. I have the same screen name on there as here, if you want to chat...I made a screen name here just to answer your question. Again, your daughter in law is so lucky to have an in law like you! Show her the website too, and best wishes.

Thanks, Tierney. I'm going to share the link with her and let her know what your name is there. I know it will help her to talk to others that can share what she is going thru. I may join the group too just so I can show my support for her.

Thanks again,

Hugs,

Mary Ann
