Okay, I've got to get up early tomorrow and run a few errands and here it is my bedtime and I'm wired again!

Last night I got hit with insomnia. It looks like tonight isn't much better. smhair

I am a little sore so maybe I better take a emergency pain pill. Maybe it will knock me out...

A lot of your meds help insomnia -- when we'd rather they helped sleep!! I swear by my Trazadone for getting decent sleep.

I usually take a Tramadol before bed. Helps me relax and helps with the pain that I get during the night.

If I still can't sleep I play Pogo Luau Bingo on the internet or read a good book until I fall asleep.

Sometimes nothing helps so I get up and watch TV.

I know it is frustrating. When I was working I almost used to freak out but now I just sleep in if I have to or take a nap.

I hope you can sleep tonight. Try not to stress out about it. That makes it worse.

Hugs,

I sat and watched a very dull show on tv about buying homes.
Finally I decided to lay down around 2am and read.
I read for a long time 4 or 5 chapters worth. Still was wired...
Frustrated I went ahead and turned on my cpap, turned on my sound machine to ocean waves, and turned off the lamp. My cat came and laid down beside me. Her purrings always soothes me.
I laid there for awhile just focusing on the waves and slowing my breathing to match them. I slept fitfully the rest of the night and got up around 10:30am.

I hate when my mind doesn't slow down for sleep. :(

I hope you can sleep tonight . I hate insomnia, too. It seems to go with the Lupus though, I think. I never had a problem trying to sleep until I got sick. Then I started craving sleep and felt like I couldn't sleep. It got scary at times. But usually it doesn't last long and I will have at least a couple of nights a week of good sleep. I wake up in pain a lot so that keeps me up too.

Good Night, Sleep tight.

I used to be the first one in bed growing up. I loved to sleep.
Now I just can't seem to wind down at bedtime.
It might the the constant pain level of 3 keeping me wired. (lupus and fibro)
I've already took my tramadol for tonight. I stop taking melentona because I heard it can cause flares. Do any of you take it?

I've also just been diagnosed with major depression disorder. My mind likes to repeat the day at bedtime and play what will happen in the future. It doesn't like to shut up when I want to sleep.

I'm babbling...so tired and not sleepy...clock says 12:17am...it's Friday, August 3rd, my niece's birthday...Happy Birthday, Ashapetah! (My nickname for her)...

Going to get ready for bed maybe sleep will come...night ya'll...I hope....

Hi Joy,

My daughter takes melatonin at night. She never has been a good sleeper. She says it will keep her asleep between 4-5 hrs. She did say her dreams are vivid so she prefers not to take it. My Rhuemy gave her pamalor which seemed to knock her flat out.

I am guessing it's like Elavil it takes time to adjust to it. I take 75 mg of Elavil every night. I sleep pretty good, but then I've got several other medical issues, currently having to be checked once a week waiting for my counts to drop low enough I need a tune up with a couple units of blood lol.

Anyway, I hope you are sleeping well right now.

Take care,
Barbara

Didn't get sleepy until 2:40am...
Phone woke me at 10:45am this morning.

I'm so drained...not sleepy...just fatigued...and achy...
I guess a flare is trying to start up. :(

I also take Trazadone and I used to take Lunesta until my insurance changed and it worked really well. I also drink a magnesium supplement, Natural Calm, and if I drink it towards the evening, it also helps with relaxation. It is so frustrating when you can't fall asleep..on occasion I have that twilight sleep, we sleep with a fan on for noise, and I'm not fully asleep, because I can still hear it whirring away all night. This sometimes happens even on my Trazadone, which then makes for a very long day.

Have you asked your rheumy for something? When mine found out I wasn't sleeping, he was pretty proactive about getting me a script for sleep.  I know it's yet another med, but with Lupus and RA etc sleep is important.

The last thing you need is a flare, aggravated by lack of sleep!

I was put on paxil for the anxiety I get before bedtime. My mind likes to replay the day and the up coming days when I get still and quiet.

I'm hoping I can get a good block of sleep tonight.
