Here I am again. For the last 2 weeks my toes hurt and just walking on my feet in general is very painful. If I am on my feet for very long they start to swell and then the pain is all over.

Is this a typical symptom for Lupus? :

Love hearing from everyone and thanks again for all who participate in everyone's posts.

It sounds like you've got a bad case of Planters faciitis.
Get a frozen bottle of water and roll it under your foot for 15 mins.
You might need a gentle massage too
Grasp your toes and pull gently back, massage your tenderest parts of your foot.

I had this for 5 months from inflamation caused by lupus.

Hi Twinks,

I have had days when I wake up in the morning and just placing my feet on the floor is impossible. Gives me a hint of what I will be like in my 70's. :) They start to swell and feel real achy. I have also noticed swelling and pain when I do too much walking. Very frustrating for a walker!!!! Tyelnol Arthritis helps with the pain and Prednisone really helps with the inflammation.

Sounds like another issue from Lupus we have to deal with. I had no idea that all of this was related to Lupus.

I guess by the time this goes away there will be another issue to deal with.

I so appreciate all of your posts so I don't feel like I am alone when something new pops up.

Love,
Twinks

I had really bad toe pains and spasms that caused my toes to stand straight up before I was diagnosed. Once I started Plaquenil and anti inflammatories it went away.

I still have pain if I overdo it, but haven't had any spasms in years.

I couldn't walk in the morning either, Oreo. I know what you mean about feeling like you are 70.

Hopefully you can get the pain under control. Talk to your doctor about it at your next visit.

Hugs,
Mary Ann

I have had chronic plantar fasciitis for almost 3 years now. What I did to finally rid myself of the painful problem was I went to see my orthopedic doctor--to whom I told that "I'd do anything to get rid of this pesky problem." So she prescribed a special treatment--iotophoresis (physical therapist manually massaged the heel/use of a steriod that was absorbed through the skin into the area). It took about 9 weeks of the therapy...but I don't have the plantar fasciitis now. Also, icing the area (using the soda bottle) helps to. She also gave me some stretching exercises to do.

Ultrasonic sound therapy helps too.
