Morning everyone, well as I lay here in bed I'm feeling very very crummy. My Rheumy put me back on MTX last week to treat my lupus. Only managed to get in one dose in.

However, on Monday I had to have my upper left molar pulled. I called my Rheumy on Monday and asked if I should take my MTX. Well he called and said sure go ahead it's just a tooth removal.

Well it was more than that. It took over an hour to saw the tooth into three pieces. He had to use a mallet on my teeth. Finally, he was able to pull the tooth. Once it was out they could look up into the hole that went up into my sinus cavity.

So they had to close my sinuses up and stitch my sinus and gum together really well. When your sinus is opened like that, they remove fat from the inside of your cheek to fill the hole in. Then they stitch it in really tight. I have a total 13 stitches holding me together, really tight. So needless to say, when Rheumy found out how complex it was, I was told NO MTX for at least two weeks maybe longer :(

My lupus is flaring, my face is really swollen as well as my jaw. I've only been able to eat milkshakes. I'm hungry for real food, between the antibiotics I was given and the Motrin my stomach is messed up.

I sure hope it heals fast, I want to eat an soon. Please pray that I have NO problems with me healing. I have to take reclast for my bones, as i have osteoporisis so bad that my bones are breaking just because. I really do not want anymore surgery, I just want to feel better. I am sick of lupus and leukemia and I just want to know WHY ME?

Thanks for reading my post. Just for a huge laugh picture me with my huge moon face that is so swollen on my left side I look like a chipmunk LOL. That's not mention the bruise on the cheek, hubby said if the police come to the door, I'm not to let them in the house w/o a warrant. Think he's worried someone is gonna call them and report me walking around with a bruised and swollen face.

Hope you all have a good day and may your pain levels be low today.

Ouch, Barbara!
That sounds like a horrible tooth extraction!
I'd feel crummy with all of that happening to me.

If anyone asks what happened just tell them you're storing nuts up for the winter. O_O

Hi Barbara,
You amaze me with your strength and perseverance.  Even when life is rough, you always find a sense of humor and find time to think of everyone else.  I hope I am that strong when I have surgery at the end of June.  I am already nervous about it....but then I read your posts and my mantra becomes "think like Barbara."  I do hope your mouth is feeling better.  (((((((((((((((((HUG))))))))))))))))

Hi Barbara. I'm so sorry that you have dental problems along with everything else. I know exactly what you mean about craving real food. When I was on IV nutrition for a year, I was allowed to eat puffed Cheetos because they dissolve and I could have hard candy. I don't know if you can have either because of your stitches, but it's a thought. Love Ya! Donna

I hope you & Nikita have been properly checked out by now. Especially you - with your bones & other conditions you certainly shouldn't be taking any chances AT ALL!!!

The tooth issue sounds JUST HORRID!!!! I have the opposite going on -- I have a tooth ache (really quite minor) but they can't find anything wrong and keep sending me home. I hope that you are healing!! I just shudder at the thought of stitches in my mouth...don't know why, I've never had issues going to the dentist...

Try to have a calm, non-eventful week, ok???!!
