I am a 25 year old women and have a good life.
Crazy family lol, great bf, great friends, degree and job. I have ahd an auto immune condition since I was 14 and have now been told that it is lupus which for the last 3 years I have suspected it is.
I have flare ups probably once a month and manage with prednisolone and plaquenil.
This issue that has upset me tonight is trivial but ruling my life!'
I am healthy, fit and feel like I look well most of the time but constantly find myself red and blotchy!!!!!!!! all over my face neck, top of my arms and legs. It cause great embarrassment and heat and discomfort , I feel fuzzy, anxious and generally unciomfortable whether Im at home or out I just want to run and hide.
Is this common for lupus sufferers? Im at my wits end , I ven got prescribed to valium because I thought it was anxiety but it does not help!
Please help?

The blotches could be from photosensitivity. I have it and it sounds like you might have it too. Sixty percent of us have it with lupus.
Get you some sunprotective clothing and nice shady hats. Try to avoid anything that emmits UV rays (sunlight, tanning beds, CF bulbs, Fluorescent lighting, halogen). I even have issues from incadecent bulbs.

The fuzzy feeling comes from the lupus fog that loves to dance in our heads.

I take paxil for my anxiety and depression. Do you talk with a chronic illness psychologist or support group? They really help in developing coping skills with this.

Try not to get overwhelmed.. I agree that it sounds like photosensitivity or it could be hot flashes from the steroids. I wear sunscreen everyday, no matter if I'm leaving the house or not. It just becomes apart of your daily regime. If its hot flashes, well that's just a fun side effect of meds. Also, I know what it feels like to be young with this diagnosis, I'm 25 too. It can be embarrassing and cause anxiety but eventually you just have to accept that this is what you're dealt. Not saying I don't have days where I'm totally pissed, angry, crying, feeling worthless and hopeless but I'm starting to come to terms with it. If you need any support this is a great place to get it.

Oh yes...extremely common. It's so embarrassing. I look like a tomato sometimes. If we go out to dinner and I have a glass of wine forget it...I'm beat red and look like I have face my neck and my chest get soo red and flushed and very hot to the tough. I feel like I'm on fire. I punched a garnier cooling gel moisturizer and I keep it in the fridge. Helps with the heat.
