I'm 26, with a family history of Lupus and I myself already have Hashimoto's which is a autoimmune thyroid condition. Recently my doctor drew several blood tests to check my thyroid, and one she drew was ANA which came back positive. We wrote it off as being because of my Hashi's...however yesterday I went to the urgent care because during a period of stress this past month I developed this red rash on my face that covers all around my eyes, and my cheeks. It isn't on my forehead, around my mouth and only lightly the bridge of my nose. No matter what I did it wouldn't go away, so last night when it felt like literally my face was burning I went in. The doctor there said it looks like a Lupus mask, the butterfly mask. I am including a picture, as he was just a urgent care dog so maybe he was wrong? I don't want to have Lupus, and this scares me as with family history, another autoimmune disease, positive ANA and now this rash...it is spelling out L U P U S. VIEW IMAGE

It does look like the traditional lupus mask. Do you have any other problems?
There is a list doctors go by to diagnose a person with Lupus. You need to meet at least 4 of the items. The rash and ANA are two of them, but if you don't have any of the others you might be lucky and it just be related to your Hashi's.
Go to the lupus.org site and look at the list of 11 signs of Lupus.

I have 2 others on the list. I have Anemia, something actually we were currently trying to solve through my doctor since I don't get periods due to my type of BC, so I shouldn't be anemic. I also get what my mom calls "prickly heat" which is a rash I get when I am out in the sun too long...which I avoid because sunlight burns my eyes something fierce even with thick sunglasses. I also have a Vit D deficiency, so it stinks I can't go out in the sun!!

I have photosensitivity too. You can get sun protective clothing and hats on line.
If you're that sensitive you need to avoid fluorescent lights and halogen lights also.
