I am so very tired of this and I know that you all can relate. I was put on prednisone in July for, joint aches, fatigue and just general malaise.. I have now been off work since June and need to go back soon. My Rheumy has tried to taper down my prednisone and unfortunately I have gotten worse.. I'm back to hardly being able to get out of bed and I just want to cry! I'm starting to get more and more depressed.. I have a little 5 year old and I hate that I always have to tell her mom's just got to lay down.. I hate this and just want it to go away!!!!

Have you been diagnosed with Lupus? By a rheumotologist? Are you being treated by ONLY prednisone?

It sounds like you need additional treatment - if you have Lupus I'm surprised you are not on Plaquenil. And if prednisone is tapered without any treatment beyond that the inflammation is very likely to come back. Most people are started on Plaquenil immediately to control disease progression, Prednsione to control inflammation. Remaining symptoms can require using Imuran, Cellcept, MTX, etc to control them.

Are you getting deep restorative sleep at might? Eating well? Getting some light exercise? You might need a sleep study, and anti-depressant, etc.

Perhaps you should consider a second opinion from another Rheumy? One way to get a knowledgeable rheumy is to visit www.lupus.org, locate your local chapter, then call and ask about what local Drs are on their advisory board. These are the Drs most interested in and experienced with Lupus.

Hi Lynnwood, at this time they are not sure if it is Lupus. My Rheumy is treating it that way he told me. My ANA was positive, low wbc and rbc. I was actually referred also to a hematologist concerning my blood. So, that's all I really have to go on right now. My Rheumy said my labs look positive for Lupus, but it's all borderline so he's not sure.. As far as Plaqueniel, I have very not been prescribed it at this point.. I also have UC which is controlled at this point. So at least that's not flaring..
