I read a Dr. Wilson close to Piedmont Hospital mentioned in a post from 2008 but haven't had any luck finding her.  My daughter is having multiple health issues that no doctors have been able to diagnose.  Each doctors she sees believes maybe it is one thing while another doctor believes it is something else.  A skin biopsy was positive for Lupus but a second biopsy from another patch didn't prove positive.  Many symptoms do match what we find as symptoms of Lupus on the internet but the one thing really worrying me is that she has gained 22 pounds in two months and looks to be approximately 5 months pregnant.  She felt a 2" lump just below her waist shortly after the weight gain.  She is not on any medication and weight only shows in her stomach area - not her face, arms, legs, etc.  She is beside herself with fear - this is my toughie daughter that never complains about anything but she is in constant pain and getting so tired of trying to explain her symptoms to doctors to have them scratch their heads.

There are many good rheumatologists in the Atlanta area. Here is the info for the one you asked about. Note that we can not evaluate individual Drs here - not good stuff, not bad stuff - although we can remain neutral.

My daughter lives in the Atlanta area - where I am sure that Lynnwood is correct that they have many good rheumatologists. I am forwarding the name of Dr. Wilson to her. Thank you both.

I believe she may have two health issues going on. Many symptoms do fit the symptoms given for Lupus but the one that really frightens me that I haven't found elsewhere is a 22 pound weigh gain from Jan to Mar. She went from a size 6/8 to a size 12 in two months. It doesn't show in her face, arms, or legs - only in her stomach area. She looks exactly like someone who is 5 months pregnant.

I don't know a whole lot about thyroid issues, but I think there is a thyroid disease that adds weight to the stomach fast. That does seem like something a regular PCP could diagnose, though.

Blood tests showed it wasn't a thyroid problem. I just talked to someone at the Cancer Treatment Center of America in Zion, IL where I was treated six years ago for tonsil cancer and she agrees that it sounds like a cyst or tumor in the stomach/ovary area. I am faxing documentation up to her and she is getting it to my oncologist to review rather than waiting until I go up on Oct 14 for my annual checkup. Kelly has an appointment on Oct 15 with her regular doctor for the next skin biopsy for Lupus. I am strongly encouraging her to see
a rheumatologist no matter what the results from Oct 15 say. She went through a period of constant pain starting right before Easter. All of a sudden it is diminishing - she attributes it to less sunlight - which could point to Lupus but then we know whatever is going on didn't just disappear. She is so upset because she doesn't believe the doctors are taking her seriously whereas I believe they just don't have a clue what is going on with her.
