Hello. We have recently had blood work done on my husband because our family doc suspected Lupus. Based on the results, our family doc has referred him to a rheum. but we can't get in til April! She doesn't feel qualified to help us much with diagnosing.

Here is what we know:
ANA positive - 1/160
Pattern - Homogens Pattern 1
Anti dsdna - 84

MON ABS - 1.05 (H)

ESR - 2.0
CRP - .3

Hyaline Casts - 2.0 uL (H)
UR Blood - Trace

IGA - <2
___Gliadin IGA - 3
Gliadin IGA - 1

We aren't sure how to proceed or even if we can before seeing the rheum. Are there natural/diet things that can help? It really looks to me like we are heading for a lupus diagnosis...am I over-reading it? He has joint pain and the sores/ulcers in his nose. Are there any books or sites you'd recommend? I'm also wondering about celiac with the low IGA. Any advice from experience would be great?

I'm not able to tell just by labs. You'll have to wait on the doctor for a diagnosis, but I can tell you some great resources.

They both have the 11indicators of lupus. He only needs 4 out of the 11 to have lupus.
Has he noticed if the sun affects him in any way?
A small percenage of people with lupus are not photosensitive.
Lupus, Fibromyalgia, Glaucoma, Asthma, Hypothyriodism, Sleep Apnea, OA, Depression, Allergies, and benign familia tremors

Not till April?!!!! Check on www.lupus.org for the chapter closest to you. Then talk to the chapter and find out which rheumotologists work with them. Keep calling down the list until you can get an earlier appointment!
