question an out lupus

I was on facebook and I came across a lupus patient that passed away of lupus at age 14. I was in shocked . I could that be? Now im really scared! Does it depends how advice we have lupus?

I am wondering because I been having lupus symptoms for 2 yrs and was barely diagnosed with lupus about 3 months ago. I am om prednisone 5mg

Lupus can be very very different from patient to patient. Perhaps that young person had kidney involvement or other serious organ involvement. This doesn't happen to everyone, and how you are now doesn't predict how you may be in the future.

Talk with your rheumy in depth - it all depends on your overall health and what symptoms you are having and how severe they are. Generally the first mode of defense involves plaquenil and prednisone. Later, if needed, you may try Imuran, Cellcept, MTX, and other similar meds.
