I've been on/off more on than off prednisone for almost 8 years - I've been on 40mg daily since the last hospital release (late January) for AI pancreatitis (a new to me disease) - I am not hungry, eating because I have to, a bland simple diet, and loosing weight - I've never lost weight on prednisone before and wondering why - I do have a doctor's appointment in the morning and hope to learn more

Laura, I am so sorry you had to deal with the pancreatitis. I had that about 3-4 years ago and it was horrible. I also lost weight. Had to force myself to eat because I knew that eating would just make the pain worse. Took quite a bit of time and steroids to be completely over it. I remember my nephrologist (the lupus had also damaged my kidneys) was quite tickled during one of my visits as he "had never met a patient with actual lupus pancreatitis before". Spent more time asking me questions about that then anything else. Luckily my kidneys were behaving at the time...lol. Hope all goes well at the doctor's tomorrow!
Take care, Fran

I believe pancreatitis causes a backup in some of the fluids the body would normally try to eliminate and thus the lack of appetite. Try to eat and be sure to drink plenty of water.
