What kind of Dr and what kind of test? Lupus is diagnosed & treated by Rheumotologists. It does not have any one single test, instead it is diagnosed by a series of symptoms. Often if you have 4 or more of the 11 symptoms, then you are diagnosed. (See Diagnosing Lupus link below.)
However, these symptoms overlap with several other auto-immune diseases, so you really need a rheumotologist to examine you and discuss what is going on more specifically. If you are diagnosed with Lupus, there are a multitude of treatments to inhibit progression of the disease and to control symptoms.
