Hi Diane thank you so much for asking about me, that's VERY SWEET of you. I'm sorry I've not been around to much lately, but I'm not doing to good.

This post will be brief, my keyboard is acting up and I'm in a lot of pain tonight. I seem to sit at a solid 7 to 8 every evening.

I'm still having serious issues with my foot and my end up needing surgery on it. The surgery will me MAJOR one, the DR said 4-8 hours on the table. Said he thinks he will have to remove my Achilles tendon and my peroneal tendon. Then he would have to harvest tendon my body somewhere else, OR get it from cadaver tendons,. I'm having tons of fatigue and just received 2 units of blood and 1 unit of platelets.

I'm having a lot of chest pain, my guess it's percrditits acting up. I'm having a lot of headaches still and my PET/CT scan did light up again in my bowel, so I'll need to have that looked at closer. My pain is normally it's at a 7 or 8 ALL the time.

My cat is still pretty sick and I'm still trying to take care of us both. I'm miserable and ready to cut off my foot or pray that my leukemia is worsening and I'm really ready to be just done with all. I have to say I'm more than ready to leave this old body behind.

Well, that's all I can post for now. Will post later on, hope you are all doing better than I am. Please take care and thanks for caring so much about me.

Hugs,
Barbara

Hi Barbara I'm sorry that you're so miserable. I know surgery isn't the ideal thing right now for you, but it may really do a lot of good. Just my opinion. Please don't give up. We are all here for you.

Hi everyone:

Thanks for all of your loving support. Still feeling quite terrible, my foot pain is thru the roof. I will see the surgeon on Tues. Hoping that he has something to offer me, I need relief and soon.

I did get quite the surprise this afternoon, a dear friend of mine we've known each other since 1987, flew up to see me. My hubby has know all about this for 2 weeks how he kept it quiet is beyond me. He was helping me fix up the guest room and asked would I mind if he had a poker party tomorrow night. That was why he wanted to fix up the guest room, just in case one of the guys had to much to drink.

Well I was totally dreading tomorrow, he called this afternoon and asked me to be dressed to go out to eat when he got home. Sometimes I'm in my pj's all day depending on how I feel. So I was dressed and ready, he came in and called me into our family room and there stood my friend Debbie. Hubby said he wished he'd had a camera to catch the expression on my face.

The last time I saw her was when I visited her in 2008 in Florida, she was at my place in 2005 and she and her hubby traveled all the way to Germany to see me when I was there in 2004. She's told hubby he has the week off, he doesn't have to cook a meal, do any cleaning, OR take care of me.

She's here to take me to my appointments, watch movies with me, and cook for me. We will drive to York, PA to see her Great Aunt who will turn 102 years old this week. Of course, she'll drive I'm to rest and enjoy the view. This is a real treat, she a dear, dear friend, plus she makes everything from scratch.

The extra topping on this wonderful day, is my daughter is coming home for Spring break at least for a few days. Even though I'm feeling really rough and pretty unwell, I'm happy my friend is here. She will do anything for me, she left at home 2 cats, 2 dogs, and 2 rabbits in her hubby's care. Now that's telling you how much I mean to her, those are her babies. She wants to meet my oncologist and ask him some questions about my leukemia if I'm alright with that, which I am.

Thanks for all your support, I'd like to ask for some prayers or positive energy be sent my way. I want to feel better so that I might enjoy my time with my friend. I don't want to just be ill and have her waiting on me. So send those thoughts my way please, I'll let you know how things are going.

Hugs,
Barbara

Oh, I am so very glad to hear this good news!!! I hope she can nudge the Drs to think of something new, but in any case I'm so very glad she's there, I know how much you need a lift of spirits just now.

Have a wonderful visit, just be yourself and don't try to push yourself too hard.

Hi All:

Whew! It's been a long 6 days I have to say. I really enjoyed seeing my friend and spending time with her, but......... it was very tiring for me. I felt as if I needed to be up all the time to spend with her. Then my daughter who isn't the most social kind of kid, has spent everyday locked up in her room since Saturday night when she (MY DAUGHTER) arrived.

I managed to get her to go out for ice cream once with my friend and I. We went to Ikea yesterday and of course, daughter wanted to go there for the meatballs and gravy for lunch. I took my friend to the airport today and it was hard to say good-bye to her. I was very thankful that her hubby was willing to watch over her pets so that she could visit.

I know that she was rather upset with my family because she could see how cold they can be to me. She brought 16 movies with her for us to watch. She and her hubby watch or go to the movies always. My hubby NEVER watches movies. Well, she was certain that she could talk him into watching movies with us, he told her politely that he didn't like to watch movies and wouldn't be joining in. She pushed a bit on him and when she started the movie, he went downstairs to his shop and worked on fixing a broken TV. She was flabbergasted that he walked away. I heard many times over the days "I can't believe he won't watch a movie with you". She also mentioned that they correct everything I have to say and I know they do, but I just don't know what to say about the situation.

Don't get me wrong, I love my friend DEARLY and it was WONDERFUL to see her, but I had to get upset and raised my voice and slammed my hands on my kitchen counter. She was on me about why did I put up with the abuse I took as a kid. It was like she couldn't understand why I am the way I am. I heard often that I'm TO accommodating to hubby and daughter. That I shouldn't put up with their crap and tell them NO flat out. I ended up crying and trying to explain that what IF he kicked me out, was she going to take me in and care for me full time and support me. Not that I would ask her to, but she didn't have an answer for that. I just really wanted her to understand that I pick and chose my battles with my family. I have very little energy as it is. Sometimes, it's just easier to agree than disagree. She's a very healthy middle aged lady in fantastic shape, she's super healthy and it was hard for her to comprehend it all I think. I'm afraid that I offended her because I wouldn't agree to some of her suggestions. Which I NEVER want to hurt her feelings.

She baked me wonderful banana bread, lasagne and pierogies from scratch for us and left loads of food frozen for the next few meals. Yum oh she's a great cook and baker. I know her hubby missed her terribly cause the way she cooks she does that daily at home. I also know that her animals must have been missing her terribly bad, as she was going crazy missing them. My cat Grady wouldn't allow her to snuggle with him. She managed one time to pick him up and give me a good squeeze, but that was it.

My appointments went okay I guess. I know that my orthopedic appointment was a hard one to do. The surgeon said my MRI showed that I have several tears in the Achilles tendon along where it attaches to my heel bone. He also stated I have a ton on fluid and edema on the back of that tendon and all along my heel and the bottom of my heel. My splint isn't in yet, so he gave me a shot of steroids very deep into the back of my heel/tendon area. Talk about hurt like heck, OUCH. Still I have zero pain relief and I'm still waiting for the splint. I'm to wear the splint for 4 weeks before seeing him again. If I have no improvement by then we will discuss surgery in depth at that point.

I went to Pulmonary Rehab yesterday and received a shock. One of the ladies who goes with me there passed away last Thursday. She caught a cold and just died. She had severe COPD but that was it, she wasn't immunosuppressed at all. My friend asked if I could go that quickly and I had to tell the truth and say yes, she replied, "well you've had several close calls and you always pull thru". I wanted to tell her that my luck will run out sooner or later but didn't.

My daughter will be home only tomorrow with me. My friend left at 3pm today and I'll be with my daughter tomorrow and she'll be leaving to go back to school. I wish she was more friendly I could have seen her more. Oh well, maybe she'll be home for a bit this summer, at least I hope so.

I had a very nice visit with my friend, but I'm wiped out and tired. So I may not be around until this weekend sometime. I want to spend tomorrow with my daughter, I know I have Rehab at 9:30 and PT at 12:00pm so after those, I'm going to shut off my cell phone, no answering the house phone, and just spend a few hours with my girl.

Well, I'm off to bed as I need sleep, I've been going to bed at 11:30 to midnight every night. My friend is 1 hour behind east coast time and she gets up at 4:15 am to walk her dogs, so I've been up every morning by 6am. Haven't had a lot of sleep, hopefully I'll sleep soundly tonight and awaken not in a flare up. Thanks for checking on me and I'll talk with you all soon.

Hugs,
Barbara

Sounds like your friend missed the mark as far as providing support. I won't say anything else as it wouldn't be nice. Been thinking of you all week and hoping the visit wouldn't be too taxing on you.

I hope you get some quality time with your daughter today and that the cortisone shot gets to working today. When I got one it did take 2-3 days to feel relief.

Hugs always

Prayers the pain / injury issues can be addressed ASAP !!

I have a dear friend
We share stuff about our lives with each other
Sometimes every day
Sometimes only a couple times a week

& both live in very different circumstances but are both ill treated by family members.

Each are shocked by the other's family's treatment when we are together
(Our families have vacationed together several times though we 'girls' are the only friends in the bunch)

We listen, sometimes advise -
And appreciate the feedback given

both think the other should leave yet 12 years later neither has.
Are still friends.

It is what it is. Acceptance? We joke about living together if we are the last ones alive. Is a comfprting thought

Glad you had time with her. She cares about you.. doubt that will change.

Hi Barbara, I'm sorry to hear your visit with your friend had some difficult moments. Sometimes people can judge a situation without fully understanding it as they aren't walking in our shoes. Her comments appear to have come from a caring place though, I'm sure she had good intentions even if she didn't fully think it through.

As for your daughter locked away in her room, well kids will be kids. My stepson isn't very social either. If we have company he's whoooosh! gone! He isn't comfortable and that's ok, people are different. My son, on the other hand is mr.social. My daughter is almost 12 and she is about as predictable as a typhoon lol. Some days she is attached to my hip and others she acts as though I am the bane of her existence. My stepdaughter (used to live with us) just flat out hates my guts. She is disrespectful and rude and I gave up correcting her. I choose my battles too. It doesn't mean I accept her behavior or her opinion of who I am, I just can't be bothered anymore. Girls are trickier than boys in my opinion!!

In all I have four, my son 14, stepson 15, daughter 11 and stepdaughter 16. They all live with us except my stepdaughter who went to live with her mother last summer because I'm so horrible lol. One day she may realize that I love her. I hope so.

Anyone who spends time with us could get certain impressions about how our family works or doesn't and suggest what I or my hubby could do differently and in some ways they may be right. In others they may be completely wrong. People are people. In my family we are 6 different people who all have our own ways of looking at, doing and expressing things. We, for the most part, accept that diversity.

Anyway, I hope the residual effects of her visit don't take too much a toll on your thoughts and that you get some much needed rest and relief. :)

Hey Barbara,

I'm glad you had a good time with your friend excluding the little downs. You daughter being locked down in her room reminds me of me. I tend to do that but it's because of my depression, I just want to be alone. I'm glad she got out a bit though.

As always, keeping you in my prayers and thoughts. I hope you'll get some rest.

Take Care
