I have been sleeping a lot lately. I have always had problems with fatigue. I have always been able to sleep for long periods of time. I've slept for 16+ hours before, a couple hours later went back to sleep for another 10. Wasn't like it happened all the time or anything though. Just once or twice.

Every single day of my life for the past I'd have to say 3 or 4 years I have been excessively tired. I'd be so sleepy I'd just feel like all I wanted to do is go to sleep. I wasn't ever to the point where I had to struggle to keep my eyes open though. Every now & then I would get close to that point. (actually I've had problems with chronic fatigue since I was 16, I'm 24 now.)

Now for the last month or two I just can't stay awake. I sleep for long periods of time more and more often. Whenever my husband & I don't have to set an alarm I end up sleeping way longer than he sleeps. He'll get up and after a few hours when it's been dark outside for hours he'd try waking me up, sometimes he couldn't get me to wake up, sometimes he coul get a response out of me but I'd instantly fall back to sleep. I wont have any recollection that I said anything to him either.

During the day, sometimes just a half hour after waking up I'd fall back to sleep, like today for instance, I just couldn't get myself to wake up & stay awake. I got up, got my hubbys lunch ready for work, let my rabbit play outside and started falling asleep again after I came inside. I'll be sitting at my keyboard typing and the next thing I know I'm waking up hunched over the keyboard. A lot of times I don't even realize I'm about to fall asleep.

When my husband is home he uses the computer to go online or play his ps3. I'll use my tablet to go online, watch shows/movies or play games. A lot of times I'm being woken up from him saying "what are you doing". Yesterday when that happened I had drooled all over myself. It was all over my arm and in my hair. It's embarassing.

I fall asleep everywhere too. At my friends house, in the car, in the dr's waiting room, in the dr's back room, I even fall asleep sitting outside while smoking my cigarette. I fell asleep downtown on a flat big stone thing, outside in public, that's dangerous especially considering I am a 4'11" slim female. I am starting to get really freaked out. It really scares me when my husband is un able to wake me up. He keeps writting it off as "I'm just being lazy" but I know it's something else causing this. I am not a lazy person, before my conditions started to really effect me I was so active always busy with housework, I would find housework to do just so I had something to do. After my week long visit with my grandma she said I was so active & got everyone else up and doing stuff.

I'm terrified I'm going to slip into a coma. Can someone please give me some ideas as to what you think could be going on here? I know some people might think medications, but keep in mind this has been happening before I have been on medications. I know too much sleep can make you tired/groggy during the day but I can't help it with sleeping long hours and I'm not just groggy, I'm way past groggy. I'm not too active/busy to cause it as I am too weak to do anything these days. I'm not "not busy enough" because I will force myself to do something. Well actually lately it's been too hard to force myself to do things because a lot of the time I am asleep & not by choice.

Sounds like you have a sleep issue. Ask your husband if you snore or to watch you while you sleep to see if you stop breathing any.
You really need to go to a sleep clinic and get monitored for a sleep problem. It sounds a lot like narcolepcy.

Joy: I was thinking narcolepscy too. Yes, my husband has told me my snoring wakes him up & keeps him up. My dr has reffered me to do a sleep study test for sleep apnea. How do you test or diagnos narcolepsy?

They ask you questions and do a sleep study. You go in a clinic overnight and they attach several sensors to you and leave you in a special bedroom for the night.

My wake me up's are either: A drink, 2 tsp of chia seeds in juice (they get slimy...don't worry, nothing is wrong with the seeds).Chia seeds are super natural pick me up. Take one scoop of Corvelan powder in water(that one is per my RA). I've just started dabbling in essential oils THEY ROCK! 1 drop of peppermint oil under your tongue works really well for me when I start to get sleepy mid day. It has to be a really good quality essential oil. I've also read that a gallon of water with 1 drop of ginger oil and 1 drop of lime oil. Have a glass of that in the morning as a pick me up. :)

Chia is the shiznit. I love that stuff. It gets me through the day. I get the ground up seeds and toss them on my breakfast too sometimes. I find that taking time release B100's helps boost my energy as well.
