Hi everyone,

I am new here and scared.

I am a 20 year old white british female and was diagnosed with Urticaria 2 years ago.
When the anti histamines stopped helping me I went back to my Dr and he referred me back to an Immunologist. He thinks I have an underlying auto immune disease of some kind. I had some tests run and these are my results:

Rheumatoid Factor: Normal
ANA: Positive
Patern & Titre: Fine speckled ANA, titre: 1:640
ENA: Negative
Complement C3 & C4: Normal
Immunoglobulin A: High
Immunoglobulin E: High
Serum Protein Electrophoreses: Normal

I am really worried I have lupus.
I started getting skin swellings 2 years ago which have now gone but I have severe itchy skin, fatigue (I am exhausted), depression and anxiety. I have been through a lot in the past 2 years including 3 car crashes, losing both of my Grandfathers and my Grandmother had a brain haemorrhage.

I am so fed up of feeling like this, it's the exhaustion that gets me the most. I catch every cold/flu/bug/virus that is out there on a regular basis and feel poorly most days leading to alot of sickness absense from work and I now have my boss on my back about my attendance, she has referred me to occupational health at work. I can't cope with feeling like this anymore, it is making me more depressed. I have an appointment with my consultant at the end of this month to find out more.

A good rhuemy uses the 11 indicators for lupus. You need to meet 4 of the 11 to be diagnosed. The list can be found at

It's hard to wait for a diagnosis, but it's tricky to diagnose lupus. Try not to fret too much until your visit to the doctor.

I pray you don't have this....
Lupus, Fibromyalgia, Glaucoma, Asthma, Hypothyriodism, Sleep Apnea, OA, Depression, Allergies, and benign familia tremors

When life throws you lemons....
Pick them up and throw them right back at them! :))

I'm always saddened to hear of a woman as young as you with a possible chronic illness. I hope you have a good support system. The stress of losing your grandfathers, your grandmother's failing health, and 3 car wrecks are enough stressors to make anyone sick.

Good luck at your next appointment, and until then, think about meditation and yoga as a way to calm yourself. I hope you will hang around here and get some needed support, and do let us know what your doctor tells you at your appt. hang in there. We're here to help.

Thank you for your kind replies. My regular bloods such as liver, kidney, ESR and FBC came back all normal. I am getting married in 10 weeks so that keeps me going and takes my mind off of it.

I will keep you posted,

this sounds like my situation. I have had urticaria for 15 months. Has your doctor tried plaquinel. It helped me. they told me they didn't know what i had but was sure it was some autoimmune disease. It really helped control my flare ups. Keep us posted ellie1993. Also in the mean time try oatmeal bath soaks sometimes it helps a little to temporaraly take the edge off
