It seems everytime the weekend rolls around I hurt more.
Here it is and I can't call my rhuemy or primary and my hands are very painful. Grrrrr!
I'm supposed to see him at the end of the month but I've got to endure this until Monday.
Typing feels like I'm slamming my fingers into this touch screen. I'm barely touching the screen.

I'm going to take my strongest painkiller and go on to bed.

Hi Joy,

I know that for me, I might hurt more on the week-ends because I have had a busy work week and the stress has built up to the point that my body finally responds to it. Even though I have reduced my work week schedule by one day, I can easily get nailed on the week-ends. Many of my recent flares have started up on Thursday after work and will last through the week-end, sometimes forcing me to take a few days off at the beginning of the week, like last week. Lately, my feet have been hurting more and are much more swollen. Same with my hands, although the swelling will usually go down by mid-morning....but the pain usually hangs in there. When it gets like that, I pamper myself. I will wrap myself up in some cuddly clothes (sweats and a fleece shirt), curl up on my lounge chair and spend the time reading and napping. Pain pills help, but they usually put me right to sleep....which can be a good thing if the pain is unbearable.
Hang in there!!! I am sending you a (((((((((((((((((((gentle hug))))))))))))))))))))) and hoping that you feel better soon. If it's too bad, don't hesitate to call your Rheumy on Monday.

Love,
Laura

Thanks for the hug.
My hands have been aggrevating me a great deal lately. Now my heels are tender to walk on and I'm hobbling.
Looks like time to phone the rheumy.

Joy:

Sorry that you've had a hard weekend. (((((gentle hugs)))))) it really sucks when we feel bad on the weekend. I know I've been laid up since Thursday and my hubby hasn't allowed me up and around all weekend. I'm about to go nuts.

As for you hand and heels, hard to say whats causing them to bother you so badly. I know that you were asking about arthritis in your hands. Were you able to talk with your Dr about getting an MRI to see if possibly you do have RA going on in your hands? As for your heels, who knows why we hurt where we do. I know that my left heel has caused me severe pain for months now.

Hang in there Joy, I'd call the Dr first thing on Monday and see if he can start you back on pred but at a lower dose than you normally get. It's possible that you're coming off the pred to soon. I hope you feel better really soon. Let us know how you're doing.

Hugs,
Barbara

Thanks, Barbara.
A bunch of severe weather is rolling into my area tonight and I think that's one reason it's so painful right now.
I'm calling him first thing in the morning.

I've got an appointment for this Wednesday.
I need to remember to tell him about my shoulder too.
