Hello Joie--

I sincerely hope that you have a relaxing weekend, and are more at ease about your EMG appointment this coming Monday, May 26.

I'm wholeheartedly rooting for you and am so glad you have a friend to accompany you.

Please keep us posted!

All the best--

Jan

Thanks Jan!! That's very thoughtful of you and much appreciated :)

I'm finding myself irritable and that is usually what happens when I'm nervous so it is playing on my subconscious I think despite my trying to not worry about it.

The reason being I'm scared of MS. I'm afraid they will find that it's MS and not lupus after all. My sister is currently being tested for multiple sclerosis right now and I had a friend with it who passed away a few years ago. It may sound silly but MS scares the bejeebus out of me. I saw what my poor friend went through and I'm praying that both my sister and I just have lupus which is effecting our nerves. That is my deep down fear that I haven't told anybody until now. I hope no one thinks I'm silly and crazy.

Joie, I find that it's normal to have thoughts run away with us before an event, as well as a change in behavior. After all, anticipation is half, if not more, of the battle.

I'm not sure what the solution is for you, but for me, it's having alone time--outside--with Ginger. When I get out of the house, my thoughts seem to lighten up.

Keep snuggling with your kitties--great for stress relief!

I'm sorry you're so frightened.

HUGS

Well it's official, EMG's are not fun but on the bright side it was well worth it. Very informative. The good news is that my nerve damage is not terrible and doesn't look like it's MS. (incredibly grateful). Also now we have a baseline so we can check if it progresses. The neurologist said that the nerve damage I have was likely caused by Lupus (did I mention my rheumy referred me as having SLE) but it's not too bad and I can take steps to stop it from progressing. The worst is in my ulner outer elbow nerves and carpal tunnel.

I'm supposed to sleep with my arms straight and wrap towels around my elbows. I can't rest on my elbows at all either. That will take some conscious effort!

I'm so relieved though! Soooo relieved! Thanks to all for your support through my worries xo

That's great! I always appreciate Drs/tests more when they show some kind of results that I can do something about!!!!

Thanks Lynnwood! So do I! Finally!!

Also, it was a nice feeling to know that my rheumy has referred to me as having SLE. She wasn't just blowing smoke up my you know what. Not that I'm happy to have lupus, you know what I mean, it's just a relief to know she is treating it and calling it what it is because before she was hesitant. I'm having a hard time communicating today!

The EMG kinda kicked my butt, mostly the stress of it. My dear friend made me sit down after we left the hospital as I was shaking pretty bad. But I did good during! I didn't punch the doctor rooting around in my muscle with the needle even though I really wanted to! And I'm not a violent person usually! Hehehehe :)

WAHOO!!!!! That pain is OVER! Thank goodness. There is so much relief in your message and the news from the test, as well as your rheumy being conclusive about Lupus--plus receiving your results right away!

Yes, punching the doctor who was administering the test would've been a vey bad idea . . . he might've slipped with the darn needle! ;) Stressful, for sure. The anticipation of the next jab . . . awful!

So glad your girlfriend took such good care of you. Sounds like you were an excellent patient, Joie, no matter how much you wanted to rebel!

Hmm . . . arms straight and elbows wrapped? That's quite a visual. Your kitties are gonna wonder what in the heck is going on with snuggle time! Maybe they'll think your towels are scratch pads, so you better make them thick ones. hehehe

I'd say it was good news all the way around. I completely understand, as does probably everyone else on the forum, that you don't have to LIKE the "label," but having an "acknowledgment" is an answer and a relief.

You did good, Joie. Hope you're having a relaxing afternoon/evening, and thanks for filling us in so quickly.
