hello fellow lupies, it has been some time since I posted, it is good to be back with those who know what I know, sometimes it gets so lonely because people just don't understand. I am having a terrible time with sun.
I can hardly believe it is as bad as it is. If I spend time outside on a sunny day, even staying in the shade, and with my UV hat and coat, the next day I cannot function or even get out of bed really. My face and skin is burning hot. My cheeks are hot and red. It feels like I have the flu. It scares me as how does one live without going outside? Everyone is outside, I can't imagine living alone inside all by myself for the rest of my life. Anybody have this hard of a time in the sun? Is there anything I can do to be able to go outside safely or medication that can help? Good to be back, thanks so much, Sandra

Sunscreen, sunscreen, sunscreen! If you get used to wearing a cute large brimmed hat, long sleeves, and a good sunscreen, try to stay in the shade, and NEVER EVER sunbathe, you'll be able to participate in outdoor activities. I try to stay inside between 10 and 3. It's a bother to protect yourself from the sun but the rewards to Lupies makes it well worth it.

I'm very sensitive to the sun too.
I use sunscreen, uv hat, uv shirt, gloves, heavy jeans, and tennis shoes.
I buy all of my clothes from They're expensive but worth it to be able to spend some time outside.
I stay inside during the worse part of the day. If in stores or outside I never take my hat or gloves off. Fluorescent lighting is just as bad as sunlight for me.
I also have blackout curtains on my windows and use LED lighting in my house.

I spent yesterday outside too long on a girls day out with my niece. Maybe five hours of UV exposure total (covered up of course). I came back in hurting all over, burning up, swollen, and terrible peticula on my legs. Still feel terrible today. :-(

It's hard to live in the shade/dark. I feel like Dracula....The light! The light!
