Hello AubreyBear--

Sure do hope your ten days of antibiotics helped your tummy issues. Any news from your doctors? Do they think it could be related to lupus or a totally separate issue? Any developments about SIBO?

This must be a very busy AND exciting week for you--with your wedding this coming Saturday.

Take lots of deep breaths, make time to enjoy moments, and know all will work out! :) I'm super happy this day is finally arriving for you . . . and I wish you a fantastic southern Florida vacation!

Sending the best to you and yours--
Jan

Thanks for checking in Jan.

My 10 days on the antibiotics were pretty rough. I was as thirsty as a camel, had a terrible taste in my mouth, was exhausted, had lots of stomach issues and could not exercise like I normally do. I am very sad to say that they don’t appear to have helped… yet. I finished them on Saturday. Now I’m re-instituting positive bacteria to my system. I feel like I am back at square one with my IBS – the symptoms are back and just like they were a year ago. So I’m willing to guess that it was not SIBO. After my trip, I’m going back on my strict wheat free diet to get some relief.

Nothing from the doctors – I go to see an allergist on the 20th for a consultation. I’m mostly going out of curiosity of what I’m allergic to besides wheat and cats. And I want to know more about the wheat allergy. No ear problems except the minor hearing loss. My fiancé did notice that my left lymph node was very swollen and red the other night, but I was laying on it, so it may have just been that. However, that is the ear that I’ve had all the issues with. So I’m mentally noting it and I will pay closer attention to that.

I ended up at a total of 35 lbs lost out of 40 as a goal for the wedding. So, I’m quite proud. As of a month ago, I was 10 pounds short, so the 5 lb weight loss was quite appreciated and I will take it! Also, my arms have slimmed up quite a bit and are pretty buff, so I’m guessing that I have gained some muscle weight.

Gonna take it easy on my trip to Florida. No exercising, and I will indulge a bit on food, but that’s what vacation is for, right? We just finished our vows last night, so I guess it’s getting real! Only bad news is that the wedding might get rained out, so we may end up indoors. Oh well!

Oh my--I'm sorry about your unresolved tummy issues. That's gotta be so frustrating, as well as so miserable. I understand your curiosity to see what else you might be allergic to--and hopefully be able to process those results into your up and coming wheat-free diet.

WOW, your weight loss is a real success story, AubreyBear! What a difference that makes in a whole outlook! Major Kudos!!!!! AND buffed arms to boot--perfect for summertime! :) Who knows, you might even decide to take a jog or two down the beach. . . .

Yes, you definitely deserve to indulge a bit on your vacation. I approve. ;) And I'll keep my fingers and toes crossed that the rain stays away tomorrow! But, hey, it will all work out and be beautiful--I'm sure. Memories are made from all kinds of situations! :)

Congrats!!!

Jan

Just a quick update:

Wedding went great! We did get rained out so we had it on a patio but it was still great. I did indulge but I seem to have recovered quickly. Back to the grind with exercising and strict diet. Thinking about talking to GI doc about next step - he suggested anti-depressant for my IBS, which I am considering and researching. I have taken Lexapro in the past with great success for my anxiety. It seems to be the major trigger for my IBS.

I did have some major mosquito bite reaction, which I always have, while in Florida. Going to see the allergist soon too. Had to reschedule that to July, though, due to work.
