Well, normally at home I'm fairly decent about pacing myself so I don't aggravate the Lupus and thus don't suffer much.

This last weekend (June 4-9) I took a trip to help a friend at a convention. Long days of standing on concrete floors. Tired out, non-regular meals, started having night sweats.

Generally it takes me 2-3 days of sleep to recover after traveling. This time I have night sweats, fever blisters, inflamed & very sore finger & ankle joints, and still want to sleep all day after being home all week.

So, I guess I'm going to take a prednisone blast - 2 days @15, 3 days @10, 4 days @5, that's all. Hopefully that will put be back to normal.

Anyone else have fairly predictable travel after-effects? Just wanted to share that it isn't that unusual, and what my rheumy has suggested I try....

Yes, unfortunately that sounds too familiar. I also have the prednisone on hand and use the taper schedule as needed. Always fun to get away but we definitely pay for it!
Take care, Fran

Very similar to mine and I head out of town for two weeks starting this Sunday. I just finished my school year today and breathed a sigh of relief. It had been quite crazy these past four weeks, culminating in our 8th grade and 12 grade graduation Thursday night. Lovely, but stressful. I totally look forward to time away, but find that when I arrive at my destination I am spent for a few days. And then I come home and go through the suffering all over again. Sometimes I think I should just stay home! But I do enjoy time away from here and visits with friends and family. I just wish I didn't have to go through the recovery time when I return.
