I really need help. I have been battling this illness for several years now and they just came up with the diagnosis of lupus. First they said I had herpes and treated it as such, but the symptoms just kept adding up and the illness progressing.  I have so many things going on with my body at one time, that I am not even sure which way to turn now. I can't take steroids because I have been diagnosed with avascular necrosis. I constantly fight fatigue and my family thinks I am just lazy at this point. They wrote me off as a hypochondriac so its now hard to get help with anything. Let me try to name a few things going on. I have periods of A-Fib, have had several blood clots in my legs. Like I mentioned the avascular necrosis, just this last week I have been fighting pleurisy(this is new). I have CAD with one stent. I fell and broke my femur in January most likely from osteoporosis. It seems like it is a daily battle. I am on the methotrexate 2.50mg. 30tablets each week. And plaquenil 400 mg a day.  I can't take steroids or anti inflammatory meds because of the AVN. This is the first time I have got to vent and it sure feels good.  Sorry for the rambling, but any comments or suggestions would be helpful. I really have a lot more going on, but these seem to be the biggest and most bothersome. I also take Coumadin which keeps me from taking any kind of anti inflammatory meds.

Sorry I don't know anything about AVN, but I can't take NSAIDs either.

Can you take plaquenil? It helps some with the fatigue.

I am already on the plaquenil 400mg daily.
It seems like every day I wake up to something new.

Welcome to the joys of autoimmune diseases. :-(

It gets frustrating sometimes, but soon you learn to roll with the punches.

Welcome to our forum Snoopysbaby. I'm so sorry you are so sick and I especially don't like that your family thinks you're lazy. Shame on them. Rheumatologists start treating lupus with plaquenil, then add methotrexate, and when that no longer works they move up to Imuran, and the list of drugs they can try continues. So if you're seeing a rheumy, tell him about the pleurisy and ask if you should be placed on something besides methotrexate. I'm glad you found us. Love, Butterflake
