Good morning! I just wanted to introduce myself and ask a quick question. I am newly diagnosed this year. I have been a stalker here since then and have found all of you so helpful. Thank you!

My question is how often do most of you "typically" get blood work. From what I am reading, it appears the urinalysis should be done every three months to pick up on any early kidney involvement. Being as I am diagnosed under a year, I was surprised that at my last visit it wasn't done....which would mean that I will go eight months without it. I will ask rheumatologist at next visit... But, since this is all new to me...wondering what is not that anything is normal with lupus!

I had blood & urine every 3 months in the beginning and as we were changing meds to determine what was most helpful. Then it changed to every 6 months.

I think it probably depends a LOT on the Dr, what meds you are on, and what symptoms you report.

Hello and welcome. I am sorry to hear of your diagnosis. I have had lupus for 12 years and have blood and urine checks every 3 months. Like Lynnwood said, it can vary depending on doctors. I have had kidney involvement and take CellCept daily so my doctors may be keeping a closer check on me than they might someone else.
Perhaps you could call your doctor and voice your concern? Never hurts to double check. Good Luck!
Take care, Fran
