I was diagnosed with lupus August of this year after being admitted to hospital with low hemoglobin. I experienced hair loss just like most people with lupus. My hair seems to be growing back very slowly now. Currently I'm on 15mg prednisone and 200mg plaquenil daily. Now that my hair has started to grow back it is a COMPLETELY different texture. It is straighter/wavier than before. Has anyone else experienced this?

After I started plaquenil my hair became thinner, wirey, and curly. I used to have thick straight hair.

those are exactly the same changes I have noticed. Do you know if it will go away once plaquenil is stopped?

Also wondering if maybe prednisone could be the cause, as I have also been on that for about 6 months now.

I don't know. I've never been on predisone for more than 10 days at a time. I've been on plaquenil for nearly 3 years.
I rather go completely bald than give up how plaquenil makes feel. I felt so bad before it kicked in fully.
