I hope everyone is looking forward to feeling better in 2015!

I have already set in motion some plans that will support better nutrition and more consistent (moderate) exercise -- along with plans to get to bed and get up at regular times. I hope a schedule will help my overall health!!

Has anyone run into problems with the new pain medication prescription and dispensing laws? I ran out of my "breakthru" hydrocodone on the 23rd and am finding there is no hope of a refill till I can track down my doctor (hopefully on the 5th). I am fortunate that if I'm careful I can avoid triggering any pain I can't manage, but I know this will be a HUGE headache for some of us.

Y'all play nice now, y'hear?

Happy New Year!
Yes, the hoops I had to jump through were unbelievable for my pain med refill. First I had to physically pick up a paper prescription (as opposed to the doctor calling it in), then I personally had to hand it to the pharmacist and personally return to pick up the medication. In the past, my husband was able to take care of this on his way home from work but not anymore.
I was unaware of any dispensary changes until I actually needed the medication. And of course I really wasn't happy that day!

And your post reminds me that I have to try harder to get daily exercise in as that can truly make a difference. Thank you (I think).
Take care, Fran

Happy New Year!! I plan to feel much better in 2015, just waiting for my body to get the memo!!

We have had headaches like this in Canada forever when it comes to pain meds. Now doctors will rarely even prescribe them in the first place. Also when I have to go to the ER for mysterious pains I get treated like a drug seeker, which I'm not in the least. I just want to know what is causing the pain!!

Those who have an unhealthy dependency on prescription pain drugs have made it very difficult for those of us with chronic illnesses.

Hi Lynnwood. My rheumy said I should see a pain specialist for my Nucynta (a schedule 2 narcotic). Trouble was a couple of the pain specialists I contacted required many and various hoops thru which to jump. It wasn't until I got shingles last August that my dermatologist referred me to a pain specialist who is kind and understanding with minimal hoops. I brought in all the OTC and Rx pain meds I used and he told me what was good and what to toss. He prescribed my Nucynta. I had to see him monthly at first, now every two months. I also gave them a urine sample once. I don't know how kind he would be without a referral. Always a catch, isn't there? Love, Donna
