Hi everyone,
I have been diagnosed with a positive ANA since October 2013. I have seen 2 rheumatologist who have ran blood work and have said as of right now i shouldnt be worried.

I am freaking out and i need some advice i guess i should say since i am new to this and extremely confused.

Here is what i know:
Positive ANA Titer 1:160 Homogenous (everything ive looked at tells me lupus)?
DR told me not to be concerned that this is borderline positive? what does that even mean?
Blood work is great looking slightly anemic

Symptoms:
All over body soreness (feels like i just got slammed repeatedly by a wrestler) Mainly chest, shoulders and rib cages
leg pains
Mild facet hypertropic changes in L5/S1 disc in my back
Anxiety

TIA! I look forward to some help

The important thing is are you on any medication? If they haven't gave you anything then ask for it. If they still refuse find a new doctor. The level of the ANA can rise and fall. It's important get some relief.

Usually they start with plaquinel and predisone.

I just was on prednisone and started at 40 mg and weaned down in 10 days just to see how i felt on it. After 2 days of being off of it today ive felt like ive been hit by a mack bus so my dr just put me back on the pred. I see a rheumatologist in 2 weeks so she is hoping he will put me on the plaquinel. Right now i have inflammation all over my body it hurts so bad to move.

I understand that. Right now you are in a bad pain flare and it takes time to calm it down. The plaquinel will take awhile to fully kick in, but once it starts you will feel some better.
Are you covering up from UV rays? They make me feel worse. I wear special UV blocking clothing and a hat when I'm outside or in places with fluorescent lighting. I am even sensitive to halogen lights. The main room I stay in has blackout curtains and is lit with LED lighting.

Hang in there!! Once the prednisone gets in your system and begins to supress your immune system you will feel better. This can take some time. Since Lupus is a life long disease that can affect numerous areas of the body I can not express enough how important it is to take extra special care of your body. Eat good, excercise, drink alot of water, and most importantly sleep and low stress. I have had Lupus for 23 years if you need to talk or have any questions for me I am more than happy to help.

Thanks! I will for sure be using this as a part of my ongoing "research" I want to learn as much as i can about this. I went back for my med check up yesterday and she put me on 10 mg daily of the prednisone just to calm everything back down and i woke up feeling a little better this morning. I actually hate being in the sun lol i hate being outside at all if any but when i do i for sure cover up as much as i can. I didnt realize the lighting could do that so ive learned something there.
Positive Ana, Possible Lupus (Rheumy in week)
