After complete dissatisfaction with my first rheumy I saw a new one today and he was VERY VERY Good!. He has a practitioner that works with him. She spent 30-45 minutes with me going over my history and past labs and such. She actually did a physical exam and found many trigger points. They did rule out fibromyalgia, but I still don't have a diagnosis. When the Dr came in he pulled up a chair and sat down in front of me and talked directly to me. He asked me questions and explained his concerns. He was very clear in his explanations. He is running additional blood work for other viruses and conditions that mimic lupus. He is trying to rule out as many other possibilities as possible. I asked if all these come back negative as did my lupus and RA panels is it possible to still have an auto immune building and is it possible to have an auto immune without the support of the blood work and he said yes that many people have this issue.
So I think I have found a good rheumy. I hope to get my results back soon but I will see him again in 6 weeks. This uncertainty is the pits, but at least I know that what I am experiencing is real. He is treating the joint pain with something other then prednisone per my request. He said if not working to call and he will prescribe something different.

Sounds like you've got a real gem of a doctor.
I hope for the best results.

Congrats on finding a good dr and finding a firm path towards a diagnosis! My bloodwork was high positive ana, there was nothing else abnormal in my bloodwork other than vitamin d deficient, low b12 and low creatinine. My diagnosis was made based off the ANA and 4 other physical symptoms, and the dr's years of experience. I'll forever be thankful to the doctors who listened and figured it out. I thought all along it was my thyroid going bad and I couldn't have been more wrong.
Diagnosed with SLE lupus October 2014.
