I'm getting confused by my doctor. She has to say I have lupus or even suggest that it sounds like lupus, but she's only asking me questions pertaining to lupus symptoms and she's treating me with plaquenil. It's almost like she's waiting for me to develop more symptoms and not looking at the possibility of it being something else.

Is this what the first year of illness is like? It's like rainbow confetti thrown in the air, and one those pieces has my diagnoses on it. The only hint is, it's on a red piece.

Since lupus is tricky to diagnose she might be trying you on the plaquinel to see if you respond to it.

My rheumatologist is trying this same method with my "RA".

I don't think that Rheumatologists like to just go straight out and diagnose Lupus. I started with my rhuemy in October and he said that I have an "autoimmune connective tissue disease" and my paperwork officially says UCTD, but I know he is always looking for other symptoms and says that he hopes the new symptoms will give us a better picture of what is going on. He seems to be leaning toward Lupus or RA, I know this will take time but what matters more is that he's treating me with the proper meds now!
Dx'd: UCTD (2014), Celiac Disease (2009), IBS, GERD. Medications: Prednisone 15mg, Plaquenil 400 mg.
