I have RA a happy cousin of lupus. Many of my co workers have lupus and have some of the same problems but naturally there are some big differences. Where I know things about
RA I don't know things about
lupus. So here is the question I hope some of you can provide some insight.
Background > a co worker of mine has a 19year old daughter who has lupus and two or her sisters/ aunts have it also. ( runs in the family it seems ) the 19 yr old daughter was diagnosed at age 17. ( and in remission
) but now her younger daughter age 10 has been sick for a while, just fatigued , sick to her tummy so bad she won't eat and has frequent headaches. Her doctor did some tests and said she is neg for lupus but has an enlarged spleen and elevated liver enzymes. The doc tells mom not to worry and sends her to a gastrologist for evaluation.
My basic question is does anyone out there have any insight on these symtoms since lupus runs in the family.
I just feel so bad because I know what it's like when your child is sick and you can't get answers right away. You feel helpless I feel for her as a mother. The little girl is only 10 and already dealing with similar stuff that we adults deal with and we can barely hang on some times. Any advise is much appreciated. ( you can find me in the RA / fm / depression forums too.
