I had drug induced lupus seven years ago due to birth control pills. Had been on pills for 8 years prior. After diagnosis, treatment with anti inflammatory Rx worked then came off pills and have been off since. Lately I am noticing symptoms similar to how that started and it has me worried. Does anyone know anything about drug induced lupus and if it can reoccur even without reintroducing the drug into system?? Symptoms include shoulder pain in both shoulders- hard to explain it but it is the exact pain that prompted me to call doc back then. Weak muscles in shoulders also. And my knuckles have been swelling. Not horribly (yet..?) but again it has me worried due to the history. Any thoughts on this or what else it may be? I haven't called the doc yet. But I know I need to.

Sorry, I really have no information about this -- and don't recall us having any postings about this either.

Probably best if you get to the Dr sooner rather than later, don't let it get away from you.

Let us know how it goes and if there is anything we can do to help.

I've been wondering about this recently. It's important to note that I am in limbo, and have not been dx with Lupus at this time.

I have endometriosis, and have been scheduled for a hysterectomy. In the mean time, my gyno put me on a BC pill to help relieve the symptoms, and reduce the size of my clotting.

I've had pretty bad side-effects from the BC. It seems to have triggered my symptoms that started my Lupus journey in the first place. I have calls into both my rheumy and my gyno about these issues, but have not heard back from either one yet.

It's also important to note that I was given a steroid shot July 16th, and it could be that it's worn off, and that is why my symptoms have returned, but there were more side effects than just my usual ones.

My vision became very blurry - worse than normal, and I became more sun/light sensitive than normal. My joints ache worse than usual too, and my confusion was really bad. I am curious what your doc says about this, and I will share what mine says too.

I am sorry to hear that your going through a surgery and I pray and hope all goes well for you, I have SLE lupus also from Alaska and we don't have any lupus specialist doctors. One from the state's comes up once a year for 5 day's huge waiting list anyhow you just answered a question that I can't seem to find a answer anywhere. about the "drug induced lupus", it is a real thing. If you would or have time could you please talk to me more about it please. post was directed to jakes mom.

I will definitely share as I learn more. I'm not even sure that's what did it, because I always feel worse once my steroid shots wear off.
