It has been a long while since I have been on here. Mostly because when I scrolled thru the posts, some of my questions were answered. Mainly because, I am just used to dealing with stuff alone.
Well, my last Rheumy visit with a new doc(I get passed around since I go to the VA) the doc, two ladies told me there is a new term they are now using. RHupus. Rheumatoid Arthritis and Lupus being active at the same time. The lead doc said I was her first patient with this and was really thrilled to ask me questions a bit too eagerly.lol
For me, it was more of a vindication of why I felt awful on all kinds of levels. Once in awhile I can tell which pain is coming from which but mostly, they like to work together on me. Still can't do much for me-just lovely meds but it was nice to know having both attack me at the same time wasn't just in my head.

I haven't heard of that before, but I did a quick search and it looks like they have been using the term as early as 1988! Here is one of the early links I found: www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/3382309.

I hope it helps them provide you better treatment!

Hi Lynnwood, just trial and error on the meds. If the Leflunomide doesn't work, then I go to some IV thing. I can't remember what med they said it was but it is done twice a year. The lead doc said since they are recognizing this in me, it does limit what meds I will be able to use since some trigger flares.
I did find it funny when the lead doc told me. I thought what the?!? they are giving my illness a cutesy name like they do couples????
