Hi Everyone. I saw my rheumy's PA yesterday and she had the results of my lab tests that were run Sunday. After almost 2 months of taking prescription iron, my hemoglobin is finally rising. It was 9.2 on Jan 17 and Sunday it is now up to 10.1 yea! Now the docs want to know why it dropped so quickly so I'm having a colonoscopy and endoscopy Friday.

I also saw my cardiologist and pulmonologist and they ran their tests and everything is okay with heart and lungs. My shortness of breath is improving so it may just be caused from the low hemoglobin (it's the molecule that carries oxygen in the blood to the rest of the body).

Anyway, it's good news that the iron is helping. Butterflake

Thank you Ladies. I felt so sick that many days I couldn't get out of bed. Normally a person's Hemoglobin (Hgb) run's about 12 to 15. Mine dropped from 11.5 to 9.2 in 10 weeks. That's a big loss of blood. Iron is needed to make hemoglobin, so come on iron! Love, Butterflake

Hi Everyone. I just thought I'd give you an update. I had my endoscopy and colonoscopy Friday. My gastroenterologist said, "You have a gigantic ulcer in your stomach." Well, now we know why I'm losing blood and have had such awful nausea, bloating, etc. He told me to stop the Excedrine I've been taking every morning and he will do another endoscopy in 8 weeks to see if it's healed at all. After that I don't know what his plans are. Love, Butterflake
