Finally got in to see the Rheumatologist(long waiting list)with my blood results that were taken 6 months prior. My DSDNA was positive but my Ana was negative. He said that only 1% of the people with this result have Lupus and that he could set me up for additional blood work that he thought was unnecessary and expensive. I opted not to have them done. His one diagnosis was "myalgia" and "complex...(forgot term exactly)", but it just meant I had a lot going on to diagnose.

So, I'm still left with the question of what causes a positive DSDNA with a negative Ana. Every time I hurt in a organ location such as now( just diagnosed with pseudomonas bacteria and bad UTI that is making my kidneys hurt), it makes me wonder if I have lupus attacking my kidneys/organs, though this time it seems to be from the bacteria. confused

If you are wondering about Lupus, even after seeing the rheumy, I suggest you go back to the rheumy and get the additional tests to put your mind at rest.

However, I'm not sure what additional tests he was referring to -- Lupus is diagnosed by having 4 of 11 symptoms and a "test" (generally they mean a positive ANA) is only one of the symptoms -- you can have Lupus with or without a positive ANA.

Sometimes life isn't about the diagnosis as much as it is about the treatment. Did this Dr propose any treatment(s) to make you feel better? Did he think another kind of Dr would be better positioned to treat you?

As I'm sure you know, "myalgia" just means you have muscle pain, it is a symptom not a diagnosis.

Let us know how we can help!

No, the doctor didn't make any suggestions or advise any type of treatment.
When I google symptoms it sets me into a world of depression.😔
