Too bad your rheumatologist is so unresponsive. I guess you will have to check in with a dermatologist - there are some that are more familiar with auto-immune diseases than others, but they are hard to locate unless you are in a big city.
Assuming it doesn't itch, since you didn't mention it. Has anything in your environment changed? Changes in medications, laundry soap, bath soap, extra gardening (sweat), changes in food, etc?
