When my Lupus was more active I would have periods where every little sound seemed amplified, and other periods where every sound seemed muted. ENT was never able to figure it out, and as the flares diminished so did the hearing oddities and now everything is normal. If I recall correctly, I saw the rheumy and it did correlate with periods of increased inflammation.
I would probably check with the rheumy as well as have a good examination by an ENT. Sorry I don't have any more information, and I hope whatever it is clears up quickly without leaving you any permanent damage.
