I had to do a 5000 mg steroid push in the hospital last fall and have been tapering since then. When I got down to about 15mgs my hair started falling out- huge clumps. My markers for lupus are GREAT (yay!) so lupus is not the hairloss culprit. I'm completely bald in places and its thinned out over all. I finally shaved it off and decided to rock it-- but would like my hair back one day. Anyone with experience on this? Anything helped?

Vitamin supplementation helped me get my hair back after Cellcept thinned it out rather severely. B12 is what I remember, but there are 3-4 others that are also helpful.

Remember that hair tends to fall out 2-3 months AFTER whatever traumatic event is the actual cause, so maybe think back a bit. Did you run a high (over 102) fever for a few days? That can do it. I've never had hair loss from steroids, so am thinking it's something else.

Best wishes.
