I have had Lyme Disease for 15 years now. Just recently I developed a red rash on my face. I've had it for about 3 weeks. I'm wondering if it could be Lupus. I was hoping it would go away, but it seems to be getting worse.

I read about Lupus on the internet and it seems that there is no good test to confirm whether you have the disease.

If I do have Lupus, I'm wondering if the Lyme Disease could have caused the disease, being that it is an autoimmune disorder.

ravenhome777 you should have posted this in the Lyme forum. EDIT: oh, i see you did. I'll just leave this for others to see.

To answer your question, ....yes it is possible. But unless there are specific elevated antibodies for the autoimmune condition in general....its kind of a good guess. Many have specific A.I. antibodies though during and after lyme, which they did not have before.

https://autoimmune.org/lyme-disease-and-the-autoimmune-connection/

Its well known with lyme knowledge people that it can cause an array of autoimmune conditions. Conventional "old school" medicine really doesn't study this stuff much.

Research in conventional medicine is sponsored and paid for by drug companies, so thats kind of flawed from the get go. Lyme goes so deep into the immune system there is no one drug that will cure it, it can become a long term project.

That said, I'm guessing your rash resolved since you didnt further comment in this post. Lyme can also cause a lot of skin conditions, some temporary, some that just keep lingering.

Long haul covid is putting the spotlight on chronic lyme, since both cause cause immune system confusion. We might learn something from it.
