Hi Hippi:

I just wanted to know how you and Josh are feeling? How's Josh's pain doing? You both have been on my mind and I hope that things are improving for you both. All the stress that you're feeling as a Mom, I'm certain is taking a toll on your lupus. Try to get as much rest as you can hun. Please let us know how things are going. Know that I'm here for you anytime you need me.

Love to both you and Josh.

AWW I hope that everything works out ok for your son. There is nothing worse then seeing your children sick and hurting. Good luck and don't give up!!!

Barb, thanks for checking in and Connie, thanks for the nice thoughts.

Barb, Josh is kind of up and down with his pain level. Mornings and nights are the worst, of course. I still have to help him out of bed in the mornings and help some with him getting dressed and so far every night his pain has been bad enough that he's had to take tramadol. I think he panicks a little at night when the pain starts because he's had such unbearable pain at night before, so he likes that the tramadol is there because it does help with the pain and it helps him sleep.

He had his first baseball practice yesterday and the coach was understanding about Josh maybe needing breaks. I'm a nervous wreck though because we can't get his heart checked until May 3rd.

Through all of this Josh just keeps going and he tries to be as normal as possible. If the pain isn't unbearable, he doesn't slow down.

I'm holding up alright I guess. I've been very fatigued and I'm worried that I'm getting a sinus infection. The worst thing is that my PCP just left her job and there is no one else at that clinic that I like - the rest of them think they are God and they don't listen at all.

Thanks again for all the support.

Hippi, you have so much on your plate and I want you to know that you have my admiration. No matter what happens to you or your family, I don't sense that you feel sorry for yourself, but that you just keep going. I know how bad you feel physically and the emotions you're feeling aren't good for your health. Being sick and being a caretaker at the same time can take such a toll. Just know that you have my sympathy, my admiration, and my prayers that life gets easier for you. I look forward to hearing how your son's appointment goes. And I HOPE you don't get a sinus infection!

Oh Pat, thanks so much. Tonight has been a really rough night. Josh came home from school in pretty severe pain and it hurts him to move. I gave him his tramadol early (I usuallly save it for bedtime for him), but it was so hard to watch him be in that much pain. I've tried to find a forum for parents who have kids with illnesses like Josh's, but I can't find many very active ones. The support I have gotten from all of you here has been the best support I have found and for that I am greatful beyond words.

Love to all of you!!!

I hope that your son will feel better soon. It hurts and feels impotent when you see the dearest ones in pain and could not help them. I agree w/ you so much that I found that this website is the best.

Hippi, I know this is rather late for this but I hope things are improving. I will pray. I have such limited energy but I know how bad it can be to be a child and in such pain. I really hope he can be cured.

Thank you so much for the continued thoughts and prayers. Right now things are still like a rollercoaster - some okay times mixed in with some really bad times with lots of pain and tears (sometimes all in the same day). I am very anxious to get Josh to the cardiologist on Thursday and get his heart checked out. I'll keep everyone updated about that.
