Hello Friends!
Hope all is well and everybody is enjoying their summer. Sorry I havent participated more in recent weeks.  My entire family is here from out of town and I picked up a few extra projects so I have been quite busy.
On the medical front I have wonderful news and news that wasnt so good but now it is much better.
My rheumy called me yesterday with my blood and urine results.  I am thrilled to report I no longer have any protein or red blood cells in my urine.  Not one trace!  My C3 serum (which for many moths was in the 50, 60, 70 point range (normal range is 90-110) is now at 100!  Yeah!  My glucose is back to normal and my inflammation level in my blood was also in normal range.  My kindey function was also in perfect range.  I think the Plaquenil is finally working after nearly 8 months!  The only not so great result was my potassium level.  It was slightly elevated.  She wants to retest next week and go from there.  She said with such major improvement from just 8 weeks ago she wants to nip any potential abnormality in the bud.  Hopefully next week it will be better!  I am on cloud 9 and I finally feel like I am getting somewhere with lupus.  While I still have days I feel like crap (especially around my period) for the most part I feel very good.
Several weeks ago I had a cyst develop on my back upper thigh.  I had this same problem a few years ago and the cyst was drained and removed.  It came back about an inch over and got very infected.  I went to see my primary and she sent me back to the general surg. who took care of the last one.  Of course he was on vacation the week this happend and his partner would not see me.  It was the week of the 4th of July and she called several other practices on my behalf and could not get me in anywhere.  I had to wait for my surg. vacation to be over and in the meantime it got very infected, painful, red and all around horrible.  I could hardly walk or sit!  Last week he drained it and the pain was so intense.  Today I got the cyst removed along with the cyst wall that formed around it.  He said taking out the cyst wall was key in making sure it didnt happen again.  I had to go to the hospital as an out patient but it really wasnt bad at all.  Nothing like the draining last week.  I will have to wear a bandage for 2 weeks then have a follow up and hopefully be done with the entire thing!
After the draining last week he put me on an antibiotic called Bentin.  I should have called my rheumy to double check but I didnt.  It is sulfa based and I had a bit of reaction with my elbows, wrists and ankles turning red & swelling for a few days.  Now I am better!
I send you all love and good health!
