Don't know what the dx is until next Wed 9/5.  I've looked on-line and this looks like it is a possibility of why I am having kidney problems.
It is going to be the longest weekend of my life.
My questions are, what other symptoms did you have?
Mine are proteinuria with hematuria.  I have regular blood pressure and not a diabetic.  I have been on Diovan for about 2 weeks.  Seeing a Nephrologist at this time.
I also have ulcerative colitis, it's pretty mild so I am lucky in that regard.
Thanks for your input!

Hi Beth, I really can't help you out as far as kidney problems. I do have a cyst that gives me trouble from time to time but that is about it. I just wanted to reply to you about the long weekend. I know after you see all this stuff on CSI miami and Law and order you get to thinking boy they got the results in an hour It sure would be nice if it worked that way wouldn't it? Just try to be good to yourself this weekend. if you are to ill to get out try to rent a couple of movies with some comedy or somthing light hearted. I hope they get to the bottom of this and Hey if they figure it out that will be a good thing. Then they'll know how to treat ya. I'm going out of town the day you get your results but I will try to check in from someones computer and see how you are doing.

I'll have you in my thoughts and prayers

Hi beth,
I am new to here but I have kidnry involvement and have had it for 10 yrs now.Like you I also have protienuria and hematuria. I had a kidney bx, in 2004 which shoed thin wall basement dx. this is where the walls of the kidneys are not stong enough to keep the protein where we need it to be. They told me to lower or cut the protein from my diet. Wow from someone who loves lots of things with protein I could not do it I tried. I do pay attention to how much protein I intake but cannot cut it out. as for the hematuria they just watch my kidney levels.
Hugs to you Hope you feel ebtter soon.

Had the same and have been treated with lisinopril for the past 2 years....everything is fine.  Damage was early stage 2 and it has probably healed since then.  Doctors are not concerned now but feel I should take lisinopril indefinitely.
Mixed connective tissue disease (systemic lupus, scleroderma, polymyositis), Raynauds phenomena, Hypertension, Barrett's esophagus.
Meds: prednisone (6mg & tapering), 75mg imuran, lisinopril 40mg, maxide 37.5/25mg, norvasc 5 mg, folic acid, potassium, aciphex 20mg, multi vitamins.
Maintain your optimism and you can beat the odds.

Beth, I only had some mild kidney involvement at one time and it resolved with medication and I never had to have a biopsy. My only symptoms were severe fatigue with it and proteinurea, with some white blood cells present at times. I can't imagine how hard the waiting must be. You'll be in my thoughts over the weekend. Please let us know what you find out on Wednesday.

Take care

Hi Beth,

My kidney problems started with terrible fluid retention, which was due to heavy protein loss. I also had some hematuria. The results of my biopsy were membranous nephropathy and questionable lupus nephritis. At the time I really didn't have any other symptoms of lupus so it was decided I didn't have lupus, even though my neph was pretty sure I did. He just couldn't prove it. Two years later, due to my growing number of problems I was sent to a rheumy and almost immediately was given my lupus dx. I do have a lot of permanent kidney damage but overall am doing well. Good luck and keep us updated.

I forgot to add I also have normal blood pressure. That is a very good thing, because most people with kidney problems have high blood pressure. I am not diabetic either. The fact you have regular blood pressure is an encouraging sign as your kidneys control your blood pressure. Keep good thoughts in mind, it isn't always as bad as it seems.
