Hi Pat! Sounds like a great vacation! I am a lot like Rosie when it comes to the sun and I hope you can recover quickly from the traveling and the sun. It is very easy to misjudge these things but I am finding that I get better and better at protecting myself the longer I am sick. This whole thing ends up being trial and error. We just need to learn from our mistakes.
Since my diagnosis, I try to buy everything with SPF (moisturizer, make-up, powder, AND suntan lotion - if they would add SPF to perfume I'd probably buy it, too!) and just layer it on each morning no matter what my plans for the day. That way I can do whatever comes up. Hats, umbrellas, long sleeve blouses or jackets or coats, no shorts for me anymore (capris are the shortest pant I wear now), or the longer dresses or skirts are now my preferred way of dressing and accessorizing. It took awhile for all this to evovle but it has all come together for me now and it seems to work. I rarely get that flu-like feeling or general "sick" feeling from the sun. I used to end up with incredible fatigue for the next few days, too, so it is definitely worth it to modify my "style" to avoid that yucky feeling.
Then, after you get it all reorganized, you can go on vacation and not have to think about
all the details of avoiding the sun and have fun! I still haven't solved all the other "crappy" stuff, though! I suppose if someone ever does they will become famous and, maybe, very wealthy! Anyway, I hope you can rest and feel better very, very soon!

I knew that when I went on this vacation I'd be using much more energy than usual and that I'd flare a little when I got home but I also knew that it would be worth it. Otherwise, why try to feel good if I never get up off this sofa. But I did make a bad error about the sunblock. It has been years since I've done that. I was totally covered except for my face and hands and my spf lotion was just not enough. Was I too tired to pull out the sunblock? I don't know. But live and learn again and again. How many times have I stressed over and over to others here to USE SUNBLOCK? More than I care to remember.
My hubby's temp hasn't gone away yet but it's coming down and I'm starting to feel a little better myself. I'll get back to everyone here in a day or two. Take care everyone.

Feel better soon. I so understand what you mean about why bother trying to get better and feel good if all we do is lay around. A great vacation is well worth a bit of a flare once you're home. Just take good care now so you don't take longer than need be to recover. Glad you guys had such a great time.
PS Hope hubby feels better soon as well. I'm sure you worry about him, too.
