Hi Everyone.  I've been tapering my pred and was on 4mg for 3 weeks.  Monday I tapered to 3 mg and went into a nasty flare.  I had no strength and was bed ridden Tues and Wed.  Called rheumy who said increase back to 4mg, but I have to go to work, so I increased to 7mg.  I worked yesterday and today.  Today is also my methotrexate day, but I'm feeling much better.  Week before last I had an abdominal ultrasound and docs thought I had a cyst on my left kidney, but the CT last week was normal (Whew!)  I was having extreme brain fog and balance problems (falling) so rheumy sent me to neuro and my brain MRI was normal, which is of course more great news.  The fog is much better (although I still can't figure out the "Bingo" directions) and I continue to have falls whenever I don't use my cane.  Anyway, I'm going to place another post re advice from my dermatologist and I'm also going to read some of your posts now.  I've missed all of you!!! tongue

Glad you are feeling better.

When I changed from Imuran (it was doing nothing for me) to Cellcept (admittedly expensive) my brain seemed to return from it's vacation....

Donna, We missed you. I'm so sorry you had an awful flare. I'm glad to hear that you are doing much better. I hope you can get through the pred taper, I know its so hard. Just remember to take it really easy as you get over this flare so you don't relapse. Keeping you in my thoughts.

Hi Donna,

Nice to see you posting again. So sorry the taper didn't go well. Some here just can't go below 5 mg. Such a relief to know that the brain and kidneys are good. Phewwww!!!

Sorry about the Bingo confusion. Maybe next game you can join us.

Hi Donna,
I'm glad ou're feeling better too.  I also have balance issues when I'm flaring.  My MRI's come back normal too.  Good old lupus.  Messing with our brains.... Frustrating isn't it.  I sometimes feel that I need a cane too.
Talk to you soon!

I've missed you and been worried about you my warped sense of humor friend. I'm so glad your kidney and brain are okay. (We know your brain isn't, but as long as it's below the docs radar, you'll be fine.) I wish you didn't have to go to work so you could stay home and take care of you, but I know you have to. You be sure to use that cane at all times. I'm sure your walk will still look sexy :-).
Take care, Donna. Glad you're back.

Hi Donna, Doesn't it just seem so weird that one little mg. can make so much of a diffeence? I'm sorry you had to go thru that. Hey don't worry about the bingo I have no clue either. In fact I was trying to figure out another game cuz I feel left out LOL. Yes keep the cane with you at all times you never know when you might want to clobber someone. It's good to have you back at the ranch with the rest of us lupies.
love ya

Donna, I'm glad you are feeling better. I've been in a flare too, went to see the rheumy yesterday, she is increasing my Imuran, hopefully that will work! I pray you continue to feel better each day! Take care

Donna, it's good to see you here again - you've had a rough time on and off lately. I agree with Carol that it's so weird how one mg can make such a difference. That prednisone is sure a tricky little drug that is both wonderful and a curse at the same time. Tapering is so hard - I'm in the process of trying to taper too and it's not easy. I'm glad the bump in prednisone helped you feel a lot better. It might not hurt to stay there for a few days before trying to taper again.

Thanks for the update. Make sure you are taking good care of yourself.

Stacie, I hope th increase in Imuran helps you - I know you've had a hard time lately too.

Hi Donna, I'm worried about you. How are you doing now. Are you still getting dizzy? Please don't walk without the cane. Is that something you will always have to have or just right now? How are you doing with the predisone?

Your in my thoughts and prayers
