Hello everyone! I am normally a back chronic pain victim, but recently I have been having other problems. My PCP mentioned there may be a chance of Lupus or Fibro. Can anyone tell me the symtpoms you have had? Because I have knots everywhere and swelling in my feet (they are HUGE) and hands. Along with tremors in my hands. Now my back is a mess, so they had always said these knots were a result of that, but since they are everywhere now its another story. I have a really large one on my ribcage that hurts when touched (the others normally don't hurt) and when they took my blood, it took the nurse 4 tried because of the knots blocking my veins. I have an appt with a rheum. but that isn't until Dec. Can anyone tell me the symtoms of Lupus?

Welcome Kttn,

There are some good links at then end of my signature. For a lupus diagnoses, the docs require you to meet 4 of 11 criteria . . . there is a link for those criteria in my sig. But the actual symptoms of lupus could fill pages. Its frustrating to diagnose because the symptoms mimic so many other diseases. You'll have time before your appointment to get pretty familiar with lupus, it is a huge topic though so we are all still learning. There is also a link to Lupus Resources, which is a topic where we've included lots of good info in the replies including suggestions to new members. . . . if you take time to read that, you'll get lots of info there too.

I'm sure some of the others will be along to say hello as well. I hope your new rheumy will help you get to the bottom of things.

The knots could be from Myofascial Pain Syndrome, a chronic pain disorder that is often associated with other conditions such as Fibromyalgia (and probably also Lupus).

Some info can be found at the following websites:

The symptoms of Fibromyalgia include widespread pain for more than 3 months, and may also include Irritable Bowel Syndrome, fatigue, stomach upset, sinus congestion, allergies, food sensitivities, etc. The first link above gives lots of information about Fibromyalgia as well as Myofascial Pain.

I hope this is helpful. Take care,
