Good Day Everyone,
I have a question and I am wondering if any of you know. How come some people are given 200mg once a day of plaq to start and some are given 200 mg twice a day? Do they decide the dosage based on your weight so many grams per pound or does it depend on how sick you are?
UCTD Plaquenil 400 mg and  Diclofenac 150 mg on really bad days Tylenol Arthritis.  and omega 3 with Moducare supplements

Hi, Angela, I don't think it has to do with weight, because I am about 160-170 lbs. Now, with that I take 200 mg twice a day or as my doctor told me I can take both at the same time. So, you have a very good question. frank
Enjoy what you can today and leave the rest for another day.

Treatment usually starts with 400 mg a day for a few weeks to a month, and then your doctor will generally drop you down to 200 mg a day.  Taking more than 800mg a day is not recommended.  If you're in a flare sometimes they'll bump you back up to the 400 mg a day.

Hope this helps.

Hi Angela,

It has to do with weight and severity of symptoms. The docs who start at 200 and go up are either trying to spare the tummy or waiting to see if they get results. When your symptoms subside, and if you are on greater than 200, some docs will drop down 200 at a time until you are on a lower dose so that you will be taking as least meds as possible and still control things. Then if you get worse, they'll up it again.

I hope this helps.
