I've developed thrush in my mouth and it tastes horrible. My mouth feels like it is full of salt all the time. My LLMD put me on Diflucan and I've been on it for 3 days. Anybody have any experience on clearing oral candida? I'm still on antibiotics, but imagine that if the thrush gets any worse I may have to consider other options. I am going to start brushing my teeth with baking soda and peroxide and getting back to watching my diet and carb intake. Does anybody have any suggestions on how to tackle thrush/candida? Thanks.

You could ask about clotrimazole10mg troche rox. They are tablets that you dissolve in you mouth 5 times a day for 14 days. You would need a prescription.

Combine it with increased oral care and I hope you can get some relief.

What about Nystatin? My daughter was on that when she was a baby. Not sure if it works the same for adults.

There is also a Nystatin swish-and-swallow liquid medicine that helps with thrush.  Be warned though, it is disgusting!

Oil or oregano and grapefruit seed extract are very good antifungals. I have seen the GSE sold as drops that you can mix with water and swish around your mouth. Also they make some kinds of the oregano that are meant to be drank as a liquid and you can swish those around as well. I also did well with a liquid homeopathic drops for yeast/fungus. Diet and probioitics are also very important.

Although initially sucessful in eliminating my thrush and yeast infections with perscriptions, I ultimately reacted badly to both Diflucan based anti-fungals and Nystatin by building up bad enzymes in my liver.  After researching non-perscription options this is what I found and have tried most of them.
Diet - Eliminate all sugar and yeast from your diet (including vinegar and related foods which have a lot of yeast)
Probiotic bacteria (I like the type you have to refrigerate that have 8 strains of bacteria for best diversity of flora)
The following supplements are in no particular order
Undecenoic Acid (from castor oil Thorne sells it as SF722)
Caprylic Acid (will give small pinsized intestinal cramps)
Chlorella (get high quality with lowest impurities)
Omega 3 (Their are many sources, I use Flax Seed Oil)
Garlic (one good brand is Allimax)
Grapefruit Seed Extract
Oil of Oregano
Olive Leaf Extract (also fights bacteria infections so will support eliminating Lyme and Bartonella)
Pau D'Arco (can also buy the Tea [I found it at vitamin shoppe] and gargle with the tea)
Cats Claw

I have oral thrush and have been prescribed to Nystatin. I suspect it is in my intestines too, therefore I would like to swallow it, but on the bottle it says -swish and spit. So, I don't know if I can swallow? Any reply appreciated.

All the above treatments are great. What I found very effective was to clean my mouth out with a toothbrush and gargle with any of these, salt water, grapefruit seed oil, toothpaste and mouthwash and then - very important - replace the good biotics by sucking on an acidophilus tablet or chewing acidophilus capsules or taking a few swigs of kefir and letting it stay in my mouth and throat for as long as possible. If you don't replace the good biotics, the yeast will just move back in.

Feel better!

Thank you for your answer. I still have the same question though. Can I swallow Nystatin if it says- swish and spit on the bottle.
