There is a woman in our RI support group who is without insurance.  She has lyme and needs to be treated but cannot afford it.

Can anyone suggest a route to follow to help her out?

Hi Anne.  She may be able to get help with medications.  Most drug manufacturers have patient assistance programs for people who are uninsured or whose insurance does not cover the meds.  They provide the meds at low or no cost.  These programs do work.

I am not sure what programs may be avaiable to help with the costs of doctor appointments and other medical expenses.  Maybe try Googling "financial help for medical expenses" and see what you can find out.

I hope she can get the help she needs.

Sometimes my doctor will work out a payment plan for those people who cannot afford treatment. Let me know what state you are in and maybe I can hook you up with her.

We are in RI.  I saw an ad on tv today for help with payments for meds but didn't write the number down in time.  It was advertised on cnn.
