Hello,

I am about to undergo testing for Lyme Disease. For four years I have been treated for migraines and vertigo related to what we thought was a car accident. But treatment has been ineffective, so I am pushing for a Lyme test.

I was wondering if anyone has experienced their symptoms seasonally? I am generally MUCH better during the warmer months. When it get's cold, I experience far more headaches and the addition of brain fog, dizziness, and joint pain.

Does this sound familiar?

Thanks in advance for your responses.

Hmmmm, lots of views, but no replys. Does this mean my symptoms are not typical?

I just got my diagnosis so I'm not sure if symptoms are seasonal or not but I have all the symptoms you've mentioned

Thanks for the input. I am still so new at this - don't know a thing about Lyme. For years I was convinced I had a neck injury...but I have not responded to ANY treatment, so I am starting to look at other possibilities...something my doctors have not done. It was actually a friend of mine who told me to look at Lyme. I am seeing my Dr. on Monday and will hopefully be tested right away.

Any more insights would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,
k

I beleve my Lyme is worse in cold weather. I also believe Barometric pressure changes make my Lyme worse.

I am already watching TV wrapped in a heating blanket with a portable heater blowing on me. I am in Pa. near Philly. I used to wear shorts almost year round.

I am getting Physical Therapy for my neck pain but Lyme seems to keep P.T. from really helping.

I hope you are seeing a Lyme Literate Doctor.

I wish I typed better and didn't have pain in fingers from Lyme. I would give more detailed replies.

Yes, Lyme can be seasonal. Mostly with Spring and Fall being the worst time of the year, but I could see where one could have a flareup that would last through the winter and thus blend in with Spring and Fall flares. Bryan Rosner had a video blog about this earlier this year, but it looks like it may not be archived on his page anymore.

I am feeling much worse with the onset of cooler weather. I feel cold/chilled most of the time and I can't seem to get warm. I have been drinking hot tea through the day which seems to help some. My body definitely prefers the warmer weather.

Fall is always bad for me! I have felt terrible for the past 5 weeks. Almost everyone I know with lyme has been complaining as well. I definatly do better in spring and summer!

I have heard that if you feel poorly in fall and spring it could indicate a parasite infection. I haven't done one in quite a while, so I ordered some humaworm and will do that very soon.

Take care,
dar

vertigogirl,

Your symptoms sound so much like mine, that my husband thought you were me when I showed him this page. Did you every find out what was causing your symptoms? Did you find a way to treat and get rid of them? I was doing better this summer, but come mid-August, just like last year, I'm starting to have my symptoms again. I get vertigo, headaches, brain-fog, fatigue, soreness all over, and heart racing anxiety. They are the worst in the spring and fall. I still have them in the winter as well, but not as bad. However, I feel almost normal in the summer. Well, I hope you are doing better.

wow - mine is worse with HEAT and HUMIDITY. Cool/Cold, crisp air seems to make me feel much better (more oxygen getting into my blood!)

I have the same symptoms as yazzer - where my symptoms are significantly worse in the hot / humid weather.

For four years I dealt with symptoms of dizziness, inability to read, severe headaches when working on a computer (which is what I do) as well as intolerance of artificial lighting (mainly fluorescents) and heat/humidity. My PCP misdiagnosed me with a stress disorder - even though every year right around May I would return with worsening symptoms.

This summer it got so bad I finally sought out help in a new doctor, who just happened to be a Lyme Disease Expert (so I lucked out). My test came back negative, but I'm still on medication for lyme (two weeks now). No real changes yet...hoping as the weather cools off that will help my recovery.

One of the worst symptoms for me is hypoglycemia - which is 100x worse in the summer. Other than that, most, if not all, symptoms are neurological.

Good luck and thanks for posting the seasonal question - most people I've spoke with have lyme symptoms the same year round. Mine almost feels as though it goes into remission in the cooler months.

Cheers

Hi Dizzy,

Welcome to the forum. This is a curious disease isn't, it? Seems to be so different for everybody.

I am so glad that you found a good doctor and that you are starting treatment. I hope you find it helps. Probably this blast of cool air already has you feeling better!
