I have to say that with all these "other" possible conditions, I'm practically going nuts.   shocked
Since I am having issues with alcohol and sugar (and gluten) too, I paid for a few of the alternative candida tests.   According to my CDSA from Geneva labs, I was +2 for candida growth, with +4 being the worst.  I also had my ELISA test for Candida done by Immunolabs which came back positive (1:5000 titer).  I tried to find some comparative literature to Immunolabs ELISA value and none of the medical research shows values similar to Immunolabs, thus making me think they are another "on the fringe" type labs.  I don't have visible fungus infections, but I am having a lot of trouble with my GI tract, which has been scoped every way possible, and there are not visible issues there either.    Clinical systemic candidiasis is very visible and typically identifiable on certain blood tests once it has set in.

So my question is, for those that had certifiable candida, was it "covert" like many of the holistic websites subscribe to, or was it a very visible, unquestionable case that you probably didn't need to have a test to tell that you had?    What were your symptoms and how were you able to tell it apart from Lyme?

For me it wasn't obvious, i guess you could call it covert. I did learn to check my tongue and see that way in back I had a thick white substance on it. When I eat sugar, it gets worse.

My dr uses quest labs to check IGG, IGM and IGA for candida. I still am positive after 3 years of treating it, but much better now.

Interesting post and interesting question.. "What were your symptoms and how were you able to tell it apart from Lyme?"
According to the article, posted by Dowa, symptoms of candida albicans and lyme are similar.  While in the process of diagnosing my lyme, I had a report run on me by a homeopath doctor.  The only results they found were candida albicans growth.
I can only conclude that I have lyme bacteria and candida overgrowth working hand in hand.
Anyone else feel this way?  Or have insight on this subject?

I agree with what you said. For me they go hand in hand, same symptoms etc.

I got it under control by a very strict diet and antifungals. My diet is still good, but I eat fruit and whole grains in small amounts which is a no no for candida. If I eliminate them completly, I lose tons of weight.

Once my lyme and co's are better, I will concentrate on eliminating the yeast. Until then, I hope to keep in at least in control.
