my son is 7, just got the western blot back, positive for lyme; more than 5 bands. i panicked and was able to go to a well known llmd for children. Yesterday we went home with probably 6 month of zithromax and meprin.

I have no problem giving this although the costs does hold me back as well, but my question really is does he have the symptoms for babs??

here they are: sometimes clo of dizzy

nightsweats meaby... he feels wet at the back at night

balance seems fine

no pain

tired yes

tired legs and arms

clo of forgetting things.. but more than normal?

all symptoms are really hard to asses, he is a 7 year old very active boy, he had a walking pneumonia 2 weeks ago and continued to run and play without complains.

I feel when I go to the ped md I am not taking serious but now I feel we might go all the other way.

Hi takkie.  I am sorry your son has Lyme and Babesiosis, but it is good he is seeing a knowledgeable doctor.

Night sweats, dizziness, and muscle weakness are symptoms of Babesiosis.  Many Lyme doctors believe the co-infections need to be treated first, so it is good he is being treated for Babs.  Babs can take some to eradicate, so it is good it will be treated for several months.  I am sure it can be hard to know all of his symptoms since he is only 7 years old.

I believe that one of the co-infections, Mycoplasma is simliar to walking pneumonia.  Does he have Mycoplasma?  I hope his pediatrician will be open to learning.

I hope your son's treatment goes well.
